Industrial laundry technician, here If you have a system to manage environmental humidity, air drying your clothes is the superior method. The US uses a lot of artificial fibres in their clothing so they can stand up to the constant wash/dry cycle. In Europe, where we primarily still use natural fibres, this whole process destroys clothing. Additionally, dryers are essentially one "trash can" (speaking to my audience, now) of dead skin cells. Yes, that's right, Americans are walking around like fucking lizards wearing their family members dead skin on them - I mean, that's fine if you're cool with that but talk about grim, huh?And this is before we even get to the part where most people don't know how to effectively use washing machines, so invariably family members faecal material get transferred to the drier and get hot caked onto each others clothing...
