50-70% of the price of gasoline = TAXES

States, cities, Democrats/Socialists raised those taxes on you.

Is why gas is $4-9 dollars in those states and just $2.80-$3.70 in other states that aren't blue.

>>534145669
The ford f-150 lightning can tow a trailer for most jobs, as long as you aren't doing 200 mile round trip. Get a used one with the smaller screen, one of the earlier models, and the Pro Power generator option with 240v output. You'll have a battery backup for your home that can last 6+ days and avoid the cost of diesel. Probably at the same price out the door as a semi-new diesel.
>>
>>534146844
The tongue weights on dump trailers is a bit high, 3/4+ is a lot more comfortable

>A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) is a vehicle that combines a traditional internal combustion engine with a larger battery and electric motor. Unlike standard hybrids, a PHEV can be plugged into an external power source to charge, allowing for substantial electric-only driving range before switching to gasoline

Battery-only is dramatically cheaper to run than gas and can be entirely for free if you have even a small solar panel array
>>
>>534146844
I wouldn't feel comfortable using an EV as a vehicle to go camping in remote areas with. Possibly if I had panels to charge it, but god help you if it's overcast and you lack the range to make it to a charging opportunity.
>>
>>534144491
Nah I drive a small second hand EV that I got for very cheap and have no issues with it.
My girlfriend makes a good wage and was apprehensive to get an EV because shes retarded and thinks she will ever drive 400km so she got a PHEV and gets mad every time the gas engine turns on.
Plug in hybrids make sense for salesmen to convince retards like you to buy something with twice the maintenance
>>
>>534148392
If you have the money to go camping in remote areas often you can get a beater ranger with the v6 that tows 6000lbs.
If you're not a nigger and have a driveway, having an EV means never having to get gas on the way to work ever again, never have to wait in line to worry if the card reader at the station has a skimmer while the pump blasts ads and niggers encroach.

I've had my eye on this company for years now but the thing never fucking comes out. Allegedly with the full battery suite it has 1000 mile range and it has solar chargers built in. They made it highly aerodynamic so it's very efficient. Or will be if it ever rolls off a line somewhere.

It's probably going to end up like the Canoo electric van and just be vaporware. But to me an electric camper van just makes so much sense. You need electric anyway and you get more room so this just seems more efficient.
>>
>>534147382
The money saved on gas is just icing on the cake when you drive a Tesla. Everything about the car is superior. You never have to get gas because you charge it at home and it always has a full battery when you leave. Oh yeah and it always drives itself lol

>>534148089
It lasts longer than 10 years. Battery replacements are actually rare even on the original Priuses we’ve only seen a few. By few I mean 15 out of thousands sold in almost 20 years. It can outlive the vehicle. If the battery does need to be replaced it will be so far down the line it won’t cost half that

The Aptera has a top so it should be roughly as safe as any sedan. Sure if you get T-boned by a F-150 yousa gonna die but that would happen anyway unless you're also in a F-150 or in a SUV or something.

Which is why women are buying those vehicles in droves now. They want to be in the tank and their husband pays for the gas anyway so it's basically free.

That’s why you never get on the road in anything smaller than SUV. I don’t trust general public to not T-bone me. I’ve met too many people left disabled after a no fault accident.

Hybrid cars are awesome because you don’t get fuel economy penalty for extra weight. 5000 lbs hybrid is the best choice.
>>
>>534148392
It’s no different than running out of gas. Worse case you use the tow service covered by your insurance. Most vehicles don’t get anywhere near 600 miles combined.

>>
>>534150121
I'm not denying carbon fiber isn't strong but mass + inertia will still smash that little machine up. It's possible you will break your neck in a crash instead of the car. That's why cars are designed to crumple as they take the force away from transferring to your body.

Honestly, the only drawback of EVs is reduced range in the winter and not getting more than 10,000 lbs of tow with the best electric truck on the market (f-150 lightning.)
Aside from that with DC fast charging on the newer models, it takes 30 minutes to recharge with a 300-400 mile range. Only the older ones like the chevy bolt are limited in how fast they can fast charge, and even then they're done in an hour to get to 80%. Batteries use a charge curve, you should only be charging to like 80% on a long trip, do your research on what your charge curve looks like, etc.
And if you're driving an EV in a winter area instead of a piece of shit beater that costs less than $4k what the fuck are you doing anyways. They spray tens of millions of gallons of brine on the roads nowadays, and unless you personally fluid film your frame (the lanolin based stuff) you might as well say "fuck my life" and expect to take any vehicle to the scrap yard and get $800 out of it in 8 years by driving it in the winter.

Don't forget adjusted for inflation gas is still very much cheap. I just paid 3.79 a gallon. Yeah it's technically a dollar over what it should be because brent is high from the Iran war but still an extra 19 dollars a fillup won't break the bank.

Gas would only become a problem if it hit 10 dollars a gallon. If people were paying upwards of 200 dollars to fill their tanks up then the economy would literally break down.

As soon as the oil price unwinds everything, not just gas, is going to get more expensive. Remember when oil peaked in 2022? It peaked in the summer, and that was just a trade redirection from Europe to India from Russia.
The Iran was is 20% of the oil just gone. Not just redirected. And refineries and pipelines destroyed in the middle east.
Our economy was only hanging on by a thread with cheap oil. Even if gas gets to half of that in the majority of the country, diesel is fucked, transport is fucked, production is fucked, fertilizers are fucked.

disel is more expensive in the US regardless, it's 6-7 a gallon which is probably cheaper to you. plus the US government hates diesel cars especially after that VW fiasco.
>>
>>534153761
>>534154562
The US government hates diesel because of emissions. It's why they bar import of fuel efficient diesels into the US. 50 MPG is like a dream. Petrol engines get around 20. Diesel gets around 50(without emissions standards).

So gasoline is around 4.75 a gallon and diesel is around 6 dollars. It's no contest. If i had a 50 MPG diesel i would drive it over a 20 MPG car.
>>
>>534147194
You could but the rest of the economy would collapse.
>>
>>534147382
Depends on the usage case. Lets just say you go from a 25mpg vehicle to one that gets 4 miles to the kwh and you drive 15,000 miles. Kwh is 15 cents here (less in winter) and gasoline is $4/gallon. So ev wil cost $562.5 vs gasoline costing $2400. Not nothing. Might not be a big deal to many but to cheap asses it might add up. Plus how long does gasoline stay at $4..after a few years the savings really explode. I don't give shit what anyone drives.
>>
>>534155077
The problem with hybrids and EVs is the large up front cost. You are saving around 2k a year but you spent how much 30k or 50k for the car? A beater gasser is around 5k or was even if its 10k now it's still cheaper than an electric.

You also have to factor in insurance costs, maintaince fees which will all be higher on newer vehicles. I drive a 28 year old beater LMAO. My only expenses are gas and insurance and do all my repairs myself. Besides the blown head casket which was just too much for me personally. Otherwise i do all the small repairs myself and oil changes too.
>>
>>534144326
The past is laughing in 300+ miles per gallon, normal road speeds on a machine that'll set you back a couple of grand.
What did your rav4 toy cost you (batteries included)
>>
>>534146716
Back then you couldn't even lift the chair up and down...
It's also not as responsive as any new car made nowadays so when you press gas is very slow until you're pushed into your chair when speeding or overtaking
>>
>>534144491
You're right, I have a plug in hybrid basically, it's a hybrid electric though, so my model is simple it's just a lithium ion battery for the electric powered side and then a gasoline engine.
>>
>>534154562
>>534154937
My point was that even the latest hybrids at best achieve fuel efficiencies of mediocre diesels.
I know diesel was sentenced to forced obsolescence. They're not only taxing it to hell but also straight up banning older models in Europe too with the excuse of particulate emissions.
>>
>>534155240
You also have to eventually buy a new battery for the EV that will set you back around $10k or thereabouts, not everyone can pull that type of money out of their ass at any period of time and the fact of it being your mode of transport means you need to drop it immediately, like you have no choice, and unless you're rich are kind of screwed if a bunch of other unexpected expenses come around the same time.
>>
>>534155622
Hybrids and electrics cost too much. I would rather drive a beater diesel instead of a modern EV. In fact in America i was looking at older late 90s diesels and they don't get good enough MPG to justify which is why i drive a gasser.

Diesel is only for one purpose in America and that's to tow shit.
>>
>>534155685
For the strict EV yes. For the hybrid you still have a Gasoline engine, so it's just kind of like whatever you know?

I got a Chevy Volt off craigslist for $5K and the gasoline engine part has only 48K miles on it.
