Do you think Derek Chauvin deserved 22.5 years in prison for this? I don't. George Floyd was saying "I can't breathe" before Chauvin even touched him. There is video of him repeating it while he was still in the back of the car. He had a lethal dose of fentanyl in his system, combined with meth and heart issues.>If the stimulant effects of methamphetamine begin to subside while high levels of fentanyl remain active, it can lead to sudden and fatal respiratory depression. Combining a stimulant that accelerates heart rate with an opioid that suppresses breathing creates extreme strain on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.I think it's worth noting that, although it was not true in this case, it is extremely common for people to fake or exaggerate medical issues when restrained by a police officer, which creates a lot of doubt and can lead to a delayed response. Chauvin should have erred on the side of caution and did not, that was the issue. My problem with the sentencing is this: Cases almost identical to Floyd/Chauvin have happened before. The police officers who were convicted typically received around 4 to 15 years (if they were convicted at all). In Chauvin's case, the public outrage added another 10 years to his sentence (22.5 years) that he almost certainly wouldn't have gotten otherwise. Chauvin was treated differently because his case was turned into a national symbol for racism. I don't think that should factor into sentencing. He deserved the same handling as comparable cases before 2020. Yes, Chauvin clearly didn't handle it right and shouldn't be a cop anymore. But if he isn't a murderer, he isn't a murderer. If they are going to heavily alter sentences based on social politics and social pressure, it is not a blind or fair justice system.
Isn’t that what they were trained to do? If that was the case then the higher ups should have been the ones going to jail.
>>534155401Chauvin did kill him, by showing up to the call, it made Floyd panic and swallow the drugs. Knee on neck was just a victory lap.
>>534155401No. Anyone who watched the trial knows it was a complete joke of a trial. At worst manslaughter maybe.
no, but he deserves 22.5 years for murdering groyd to cover for the counterfeiting operation that chauvin worked security for

>>534155401>George Floyd was saying "I can't breathe" before Chauvin even touched himSo he indicated he's having trouble breathing, and Chauvin decided to sit on his neck, killing him. What is so difficult to understand about this? I would expect a trained police man to have helped the man rather than kill him. But the American police forces are full of untrained gung-ho trigger-happy morons. They join the force so that one day, they may be in a position to kill a nigger without repercussions.
