a Finnish high school reform: arts being added into one of the five mandatory exams (optional) which means you can fulfill the requirement of 5 exams by putting arts as one of them

Finland requires from you all these to graduate:
-Finnish language exam
-Swedish language exam (can be swapped to German in rare instances)
-English language exam (can be swapped to German, French, Spanish)
-Maths
-One scientific/religious/or humanities exam
(physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, lutheran religion, philosophy...)

>in essence you can swap maths into arts henceforth
>or a humanities exam

3 languages will always be mandatory

The reform will take place in 2029 but in Kaarina city they are already piloting it. High schülers who now graduate from there, can have the arts exam already, others wont.
In arts exam they have several hours to create something by their hand, name it and explain what it represent. It could be a clayfigure, a painting, a drawing, various artsy things but you dont have 24 hours time in creating it but much less.

Cool. I got a doctorate in arts and crafts too

Why are Finnish people required to learn Swedish and English?
>>
>>534289268
Because they've basically been getting cucked by swedes for centuries and there's still a very gay and very influential Swedish enclave there. Or maybe that's more than one I don't know
>>
>>534289268
who knows, Swedish Language Law was put in effect in the year 1960

english language teaching started in 1970 maybe as an attempt to "make Finnish people more compatible with rest of the world"

Swedes in Sweden have been learning English for 120 years

Doesn't really matter just sounds like self sabotage if you want to do anything else than art or go M/L in everything else. Every uni entrance point system values math over anything else and gives the most points for it.

>Every uni entrance point system values math over anything else and gives the most points for it.

well everything except languages at least..

how to gain most points if you apply for english master degree in the uni?
>have Laudatur grade in English

same for Swedish etc.

of course a good math grade still is taken into account in languages as well and gives you extra points

but you will not score a English language study position by having L in maths and C in English, it needs to be the other way around

will this include the new finns, or will they graduate with a BBC associate degree

Arts has a nexus with craftsmanship which includes hand manufacturing. Arts is important.

Music is important brain stimulation for motor control, perception and general intelligence.
>>
>>534291124
oh right music, I totally forgot that music will also be interchangeable with hand craft arts in the new order of High school structure, I didnt wrote this in the opening post

Hardly matters at all.
Only retards fail to graduate.
Universities can figure out how to suck in the best students.
>>
>>534288422
Math* is fascinating but aggressively useless in daily life and should not be the gatekeeper of who gets to have a home and who doesn't. Talented people whose talents lie outside math shouldn't have their talents considered and treated as useless just because they suck at something maybe 2% of the population uses in their job.

*obviously arithmetic is used in daily life, nothing beyond a 6th grade level though.

Surgeons and lawyers can't do math. They manage to pass and then forget it all. I know this because I'm from a family of lawyers and surgeons. They can't do sixth grade math problems. And they're in their 60s-70s, this isn't new. They don't use math in court cases or surgery.

i regret every year i was forced to spend in mandatory education. i met a bunch of retards and was taught by mediocrities at best.

if i was just left to my own devices i'd be a much better person than i am now. if you do not have a privilege to homeschool your child you're giving it to the state which is the ultimate form of abuse.

why? 99.99% of all artsy people are super left wing anyway. Are you a proffessor in your field or did yur PhD amount to nothing where you are now working as an office deskjob wagie?
