>pointless retarded war in the middle east

>hold the White House, Congress, and Supreme Court but still unable or unwilling to actually govern the country

only the aesthetics are different, but most of the "political" types on here are retards who ignore actual policy making and what is materially changing around them in favor of the emotionally charged propaganda thrown in their face like keys jingled in front of a baby

You have to understand that during this time, liberals were riding high on an era of smugness that could only be shattered by 2 terms of Trump and one term of Biden.

GW Bush was a dogshit president and the wars his administration started would come to define American politics the first quarter of this century; but the left didn't acknowledge that Obama was literally a continuation of Bush in every way that actually mattered. Obama was messianic to the left, a herald of a post-racism America, where finally a black man could actually become President... so they would never acknowledge his faults while in office. Nowadays, the retrospective view is a bit less rose-tinted, where it cannot be ignored that Obama's presidency was not quite the honeymoon the left thought it was.

Now as for the right, they were entirely fucking co-opted by neocons for the better part of 20 years, with only a brief political reprieve during Trump's first term. Now that Trump has shown himself to go full neocon, it's over. The right was completely ridiculed by the mainstream media and misrepresented in every public arena. They were the butt of jokes on SNL; considered as throwback hayseeds by enlightened coastal liberal busybodies. Their biggest representatives were full-on retard neocon cartoon characters who thought "conservative values" meant "how far I can unhinge my jaw to suck the maximum amount of Israeli cock." Real conservatives care about reducing the size and influence of the government, lowering taxes on individuals, maximizing personal freedoms (especially related to free speech and the right to bear arms), and economic independence with strong social communities built on trust. These are not values that have been represented at the highest level in a very long time.

So basically being conservative has sucked except for a brief period in 2016-2020. I don't care anymore.

Follow up question as equally vague and retarded as my first: how do you think this culture, whatever it was, would've handled being in the driver's seat had Romney won? It seems like once he lost in 2012 they pulled the plug on that entire Duck Dynasty bullshit.
>>
>>534304872
>2016-2020
2016-2024 you mean, during Biden era it was in fact the peak cause he was being pretty embarrassing
but Drumpf fucked it all up with the second term

>had Romney won
This motherfucking charisma void had no chance whatsoever. Especially when you consider how much of a faggot he has been since 2012.
>>
>>534305087
Romney is a massive RINO. He probably would have involved America directly with the Ukraine shit even earlier (he literally said that Russia was enemy number one during the campaign, that was before Maidan and shit). He would have cucked out socially to liberals on everything and it would have been the same as Obongo.
>>
>>534305253
The main thing I remember about Romney is when he was bringing up Russia as a possible threat in one of the presidential debates and Obama responded with a quip like, "The 1980s called: They want their foreign policy back." And then the next 10 to 15 years was just
>MUH RUSSIAN COLLUSION
>MUH RUSSIAN INFLUENCE
>MUH RUSSIAN HACKERS
>MUH RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA
>MUH RUSSIA STOLE THE ELECTION
>RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA

I'm surprised we never got a great book on that campaign from someone who was there. What the fuck was Rove seeing? That whole internal polling, Mitt's not even got a concession speech prepared he's so confident thing baffles me. I think Romney had a chance before the 47% thing. Obama was terrible in that first debate, nobody remembers that.

Somehow even worse.

Right, but there was a real conflict between the WASPy stoic protestantism of Bush Sr, and the pandering to the rabble of Bush Jr (and Reagan desu).

>>534305480
Libs couldn’t handle the fact that nobody wanted girlboss neoliberalism.
The Dems problem is they think Europe is like some magical utopia and try to implement European politics(very clumsily) in the US without even considering if that’s what voters want.
Probably why they think Russophobia is also a winning play since it’s a lot more of a European issue than it is for us.
>>
>>534305965
>if that’s what voters want.
What the Republican base wants is retarded middle eastern wars and peronist cronyism. They shouldn't be taken particularly seriously.
>>
>>534305225
The Biden years weren't a "good" time to be a conservative; but it was entertaining to see liberals forced to come to terms with their own shitty decisions (at least the ones that were capable of doing so). The Biden administration is the most egregious example of liberal cope; I couldn't fictionalize a situation which would be more ridiculous than actual reality. From 2016-2020 Trump couldn't undergo cellular mitosis without someone screaming about it on some form of media. He is quite possibly the most scrutinized president in history, especially during that era. Then from 2020-2024, it was like we didn't have a president. There were no media swarms over daily occurrences, there were stretches of time where Biden simply disappeared; nothing seemed to happen at all. It was complete and utter silence. I was absolutely convinced that Biden would resign the presidency within the first six months of his term in order to pass the torch over to Kamala Harris; and when that didn't happen it was apparent that he was just a bitter old codger struggling against irrelevancy... and dementia.

The 2024 election was the biggest travesty I've ever seen in American politics. I don't even know where to begin. Biden should have never run for a second term, but the bigger problem is that the leadership actually let him. These are the people you trust to run your fucking country, and they wanted to run a literal corpse for a second presidential term, after a complete wet fart of a first. But when it became painfully obvious that Biden is not only unfit to run again, he's obviously not in charge of the country either (and hasn't been for who knows how long), they bypassed all electorial conventions to push Kamala Harris instead. This is a masterclass on how to lose an election, and so politically embarrassing that only democrats could continue to blindly follow this fucking nonsense past this point.

Now in 2026, Trump is torpedoing himself and his party in the same way.
>>
>>534304447
How the fuck does they autocorrect to this?
>>
>>534304011
Pretty must the same christcuck beta bullshit you’re seeing now. MAGA was cool in 2016 when all the cuckservstive republicans hated trump but once those closeted faggots attached themselves to it they turned it into the same gay ass whiney goy slave shit they always push that led to Obama getting elected. It was never good which is why maga was popular in the first place.

The Bush family made a hard pivot to try and create a “family values” coalition of Catholic spics and redneck southerners. But they just lost the ability to push back on rampant faggotry after a while. Millenials really really hated the idea of demonizing faggots. The right was pulling way too many punches when going after the sodomite agenda and was totally routed with the gay marriage decision at the Supreme Court.
They should have been shining a light on the depravity of the fag community. Rampant drug abuse, sexual assault, bizarre fetishism, pedophilia, disease. It was all right there but somehow the left was able to convince everyone that they were “just like us” and wanted a stable marriage with 2 kids and a white picket fence when that maybe accounts for 5% of the LGBT population and the rest are neurotic basketcases who spend their time abusing drugs and then abusing each other and then abusing kids.
>>
>>534305520
>I think Romney had a chance before the 47% thing.
The thing is, this was 100% true and Romney was actually right about it. But at the time, this was considered to be a "racist" or "inconvenient" fact. The reaction was along the lines of: "How dare Romney insinuate that 47% of Americans are freeloaders? This must be some form of covert racism! Romney is racist against blacks, and Obama is black!" I don't even like defending Romney, because he was the conservative equivalent of John Kerry; but he was not wrong on this issue, and he should have doubled the fuck down and forced people to confront the reality (which is probably even worse now).

>Oh my god are you implying that 47% of americans don't pay taxes? That means you think black people and minorities and women don't pay taxes.
Well no, they really fucking don't; and why are we pretending that isn't the case? By and large, blacks, minorities, and women are tax drains; white men are tax cows. This is a provable fact.

>Obama was terrible in that first debate, nobody remembers that.
I do remember this. I was shocked at how poorly Obama performed. The guy cannot speak without a teleprompter.

Maybe because Ole Miss frat bro doofuses aren't as good at writing policy and making legal cases as Harvard and MIT strivers.

What culture would produce Trump? Answer that and you will know. Hints:
>Elevating literal tabloid trash to the status of proper journalism, check out Bill O'Reilly's early career and Rupert Murdoch's history.
>Lowering the quality of discourse with invective-riddled hostile bullshit, check out Rush Limbaugh
>Crashing a healthy or healing economy and insisting it's fine because the President has some kind of business history
>Stoking fear of browns
>Fooling mongs into thinking tax cuts, subsidies, and expanded legal rights for the wealthiest Americans would do anything other than usher in a second gilded age (which if you're confused, was really fucking bad)

The sign is a subtle joke. The shop is called "Sneed's Feed & Seed", where "feed" and "seed" both end in the sound "-eed", thus rhyming with the name of the owner, Sneed. The sign says that the shop was "Formerly Chuck's", implying that the two words beginning with "F" and "S" would have ended with "-uck", rhyming with "Chuck". So, when Chuck owned the shop, it would have been called "Chuck's Feeduck and Seeduck".

I know it was post Occupy but a sort of hail Mary could've been to just lean into being a rich motherfucker. Be the Bain candidate in a sort of populist sense of exposing the system as corrupt. Or just call Obama a drone killing, pro torture thinly veiled neocon freak. But that wasn't going to happen. I wish Ron endorsed Gary Johnson or ran third party himself that year.
