When the disability checks go from ~900 to ~600, it will put more people on the street, it will put more people in their support network out of work as they fall behind on bills, it will increase crime rates as people already on the street become more desperate, it will increase EMS and PD calls, it will increase wait times in emergency rooms. I wouldn't deny that much of the welfare system in this country is mismanaged and filled with bureaucracy that drains funds from their intended source, but these kinds of 'solutions' don't attend to that at all. The actual safety net at the end of these systems is anemic as hell, clawing back money from the recipients is braindead and will continue the current trajectory of this society's deterioration, not remedy it. I am desperately trying to build a life where I can have a child, and this is yet ANOTHER decision from the government that forces me to reconsider. What if I have a child with a disability? What if my wife or I become disabled? I have a dangerous job, it's quite possible. Why can't our society support families? This is insane, short-sighted bullshit.
