But the blame lies exclusively on the incest between the federal government and the massive hedge funds and private equity corporations that are purchasing new homes en masse, purchasing small businesses en masse, etc. Even in my pest control industry, small one-man shows and local companies are being gobbled up by Orkin and Terminex (both owned by private equity or holding companies) which drives down wages and suppresses real market growth. They make an offer the small guys can't refuse (possibly with implicit threats), and that's that. The hedge funds and equity firms simply have too much money and momentum. I don't know what the solution is because, again, the game was set in 2009 when we essentially ended the free market. The only reason we have these gargantuan funds and firms is because they received trillions of money directly injected into their bank accounts in 2009. Now they're like the Biblical behemoth, devouring everything and anything in sight because they have too much money to be stopped.
