Do this : Hit garage or thrift store and buy large crock pot. Hit the food bank or just buy bulk bag of drumsticks, carrots, celery, bag of potatoes, bag of egg noodles, bag of rice, bag of frozen peas. Cook drumsticks in water in crockpot, towards the end toss in the vegetables . Pull out drumsticks and pull off all meat and cartilage. Pick some meat out for yourself, the rest for pups. Divide up the chicken stock/veggies. You can return whatever you have portioned for yourself and return to crock pot. Now you can season with whatever sounds good to you. Cook egg noodles and rice. Now you have 2 add ins to play with. The broth will make a very nice gelatin. Yours is soup, or thickened and tossed into cheap assed pie shells - chicken pot chicken pot, chicken pot pie! If you don't get that reference I feel sry for you. Thicken broth with corn starch, you can make a Chinese type dish. The pup portion with rice will soak up a lot of the broth. I give them some noodles as a bonus. You can yourself and your dog, healthy and not a lot of money. Get creative, just be mindful that some people food can be bad.

It's tricky to know what the right food for dogs is nowadays because the big companies will buy up any little start up and bring them into their wing / they always find their own studies that coincidentally proclaim their food is the best but if you really wanted to get the best food for your dog you'd kill and skin a rabbit for him every day, you wouldn't be feeding fucking kibble.
