You do know how to navigate using the sun (and stars), don't you?
>>534339380Yeah we learned that at 18
What? CLOUDS? NOOOOOO
>>534339380Yeah, I’m not retarded.
>>534339380Of course! I have strong Sagittarius and Uranus in my natal chart which helps me understand astrology easier!
>>534339551Got em!Fucking retard doesn't know about constellations
>>534339684Suck my azimuth burger
>>534339855You got owned, niggerDeal with it
>>534339380I actually do
>>534339380I know when my left foot hits the ground 63 times, I’ve moved exactly 100 meters.I can shoot an azimuth, read a 10 digit grid and I know all the supplemental terrain features on a map.
>>534339684Wtf are these stupid names for Ursa minor and Major.>>534339380Barely
>>534339380the sun rises in the eastuhhh the north star is in the north
>>534339380>You do know how to navigate using the sun (and stars), don't you?You do know there's maps, compass, gps don't you?
>>534339380nope
>>534339380I did the army. Yes. Basic training, also sailing.
>>534339921Sneed sells feed and seed, which is completely normal. Chuck, on the other hand, sells fuck and suck.
>>534339380Rise east, set west, find polaris.
>>534340485>the sun rises in the eastactually, the sun does not rise in the east and set in the west. It rises and sets in a different degree position every day throughout the year. If you know the degrees, you can get a fairly accurate date from knowing what degree it rises and sets at.
>>534344839You sound insufferable! How do you work out the degrees exactly, it wouldn't be with a compass would it?
>>534339380I do know how to navigate using the stars and the sun, but the problem is that the Blair Witch, with her macabre witchcraft, was able to warp space and time to send them into the past. So, I assume that neither the stars nor the sun are accurate methods when you're in the middle of that kind of sorcery. My hypothesis is that the witch performs various rituals using rocks around the victims I'm not sure if it has to be exactly three points with the victims in the center of the triangle, or if there are more points involved. But once they are inside, space and time distort, moving them further into the past the more they walk until the full ritual is complete
>>534344839most stars move around a lot all night. the north star moves very LITTLE in a small circle, and that circle is right around true north.> Equinoxes (March/Sept): Sun rises exactly East and sets exactly West. Summer Solstice: Sun rises northeast and sets northwest. Winter Solstice: Sun rises southeast and sets southwest. Daily Movement: East to West, as the Earth rotates. Therefore, while the general East-West direction is constant, the precise location on the horizon changes throughout the year.
>>534344893>You sound insufferable!maybe I do, but its only exact east/west rise/set on equinoxes. (around march 20, sept 20)
>>534339380I want to navigate her stars
>>534339380that wouldn't work if the Witch cast a proximity spell on the area and makes the landscape shift every night
>>534345015also, if you have a watch and keep track of light vs dark time to the minute? when its exactly the same amount of day and night, you know its an equinox. You can use the moon as a calendar. Its on a strict 28 day schedule from new moon to new moon. The longest night is around december 20, the shortest night is around jun 20. Lots of little tidbits like this would be handy if you were dropped off somewhere with nothing.
Great strategy in Minecraft... Well, the sun not the stars, but yeah. Honestly I don't knpw how to do it IRL. I live in NYC so it's kind of pointless but I'd like to learn.
>>534345216I know all this shit and I'm 56 and have still not been dropped off anywhere with nothing. Prepping for shit that's cosmically unlikely is wildly USAmerican, so is believing Angels are real.
>>534339380Why didn't they just follow the creek upstream until they ran back into those fishermen?
>>534339380If I were in a survival situation I would just follow a river downwards. If you would do some tacticool stuff you would make sure you carry the right equipment so you don't rely on the sun and stars to navigate. If I lost the track while hiking I will just scream very loudly as soon I can't see the track anymore, then someone will come and rescue me.
>>534345853My childhood dream is to get lost in the Carpathian forest with a german girl and she falls in love with me after i save her , is that weird?
>>534345173Being lost in the woods makes you walk in circles. It's a known phenomenon. That's why you're told from a young age not to get lost in the woods, because it's super hard to find your way out since you cant walk a straight line. There was no "magic" that trapped them moron.>>534345498>Why didn't they just follow the creek upstream until they ran back into those fishermen?Yep they deserved to die for their stupidity on this one. Also why bring a map but not a compass? Maps are worthless in the woods. Compass is everything.
>>534339380I purposely go inna woods and find my way back after a day of walking. Gotten lost twice, but my dog always takes me to the nearest McDonald's.
>>534346009>There was no "magic" that trapped them moron. That was the point of the movie you meany. The little charms in the trees were magical defenses to muddle approaching travellers.
>>534346139Why would you assume that?Do you realise how difficult it is to find your way out of the woods once you're lost? You learn in elementary school that you will almost guaranteed walk in circles, and that's why it's super important that you learn to how to find signs for direction, sun movement, moss growth, improvised compass, follow streams. If you just randomly walk, you will almost guaranteed end up where you were. There is literally no reason to believe that they were trapped because of 'magic'. Their experience of going in circles is extremely common and it's the main reason why hikers end up dying in the woods.
>>534339472If you look at the trees you can gauge a rough direction from moss growth on straight tree trunks North has more growth, south has lessCheck your findings with wet ground around fallen logs and boulders, North will be wetter Tree canopies, south has longer branches, more leafsReality is, most people in this situation are fucked
>>534346550another way that you can do it is gather up a load of twigs and sticksthen choose a tree, lean a stick against it, then line up your next tree, go to it, lean stick and so onthis will stop the spiral effect when you walk
>>534346322>Why would you assume that?Because that's what the movie is about. You and >>534345015 this fuckwit seem autistically locked on to telling people basic woodcraft and can't grasp the story very well.
>>534346550>North has more growth
>>534346914Maybe Australians dont learn basic forest survival knowledge because most of your country is desert. If you just casually walk "straight", you will almost always walk in a huge circle. This is common knowledge. This happens IRL to people not affected by magic witchcraft.
