It's not niggers. A Brightline ticket is $100+ minimum. It's a logistics issue. There's no point in taking a train to Miami if once you get there you need to rent a car to go anywhere other than South Beach. God forbid you go to Orlando, you'll be spending twice your fare on an Uber just to get to Disney.
There is some political will to build useable public transit networks in America, it's small but noticable and growing. But all the transit guys running around are obsessed with big intercity HSR projects which doesn't make any sense without any accompanying intracity infrastructure.

The issue with Rail in the US is that we haven't learned the lesson China did of turning the station into a destination for shopping/etc on it's own. You need relatively dense retail/dining options right near the station for it to be all that viable. Brightline West drops people off 2.5miles south of the las Vegas strip in Vegas and on the LA side i think it's either going to San Bernadino (not the best but atl east there are a lot of people around) or fucking Victorville.

New York has it's subway system but there aren't many transport systems in the US that can hope to have that level of demand and density plopped on top of a station.

Ok, so you want to go to Disneyworld and are in Miami. You say let's take the train. First, it's still gonna be expensive, probably over $100 per ticket easily, second once you get there, you still have to use a car, or uber or lift or if you're lucky a city bus or some other service just to get anywhere else because it's likely not dropping you at your destination and America doesn't have any other options for getting around in most places since our entire culture is centered around driving places in cars.

So you're better off just taking a car or renting a car and driving and parking the car wherever than taking a train. In other countries, you can actually take a train around places because once you get to where you're going you're usually actually near the destination getting off the train and can walk to where you want to go. Not in America, even when we use trains the entire system is still designed around getting in a car once you get where you're going, unless you're in an actual city with a metro system. which many US cities don't have anyways.

Where I live for example, there's an interstate that essentially bisects the north and south parts of the city I live in, and the only way to get across the few bridges that go across the interstate is in a car, there's no pedestrian paths, sidewalks, bike lanes, anything at all except driving across in a car. What's happening is that Brightline realized, in California, that transit operators they run with are seeking new taxes this year citing the same problems. So, Brightline is using the same tactic to negotiate lower interest rates. Don't forget that Brightline is owned by Florida East Coast RR, a regional freight railway that runs on the same track. Meaning, state money for Brightline finances FEC's core freight business. Just as the SP did with California and ACL with Florida.

Now, Tri-Rail is a different story. Tri-Rail could actually die like Northstar just did a few weeks ago.
