He corresponded about the Dutch model of governance with other Founding Fathers multiple times and after analyzing the particulars of the model of governance in depth, it became - with a few tweaks - what would be the US's model of governance. Basically, the States General became the Senate and Congress, and the Stadtholder was tooled into the office of the President. (This is also the origins of why the President is commander in chief of the army, but only Congress can declare war. This is directly copied from the old Dutch model.)
