Why are leftists so obsessed with preserving the environment?
I live in a mining region. The leftists in the blue cities fight tooth and nail to stop a new mine from opening, which would provide mass quantities of the minerals ESSENTIAL for the "Green Revolution." The mine companies pass all environmental regulations, but are constantly sued by green groups. The science behind their complaints has been proven false. I work at a lab, and have firsthand knowlege. No matter. The real reason they fight this is because they view the people of my region as hillbilly racist WHITE people, and want to deny economic prosperity out of pure and simple spite.

Because ultimately, civilization depends upon stable agriculture. And if you ignore the environment--where the crops are grown--long enough, you find that your staple foodstuffs are no longer available to you. Global economic cycles are really that fragile. Shouldn't be an arguement of left versus right. Should just be an arguement of awareness. Maybe the hippie left with their focus on returning to the land are just more woke about keeping civilization healthy in this way.

This is one issue where I might side with the lefties. What are you going to do without nature? Humanity might think of itself as the "dominant force" but it's not a regulatory force. What are you going to do without nature? Pollinate things by hand?
