Here you go — formatted for /pig/ posting:

---

The 30 day Iran proposal isn't a coincidence. They timed it to align with the War Powers Resolution clock.

WPR works in two phases: 60 day notification deadline, then 30 days for force withdrawal. War started early March, so Trump was at his 60 day mark last week. He sent the "hostilities terminated" letter to Congress to argue the clock doesn't apply because of the ceasefire. Legal fiction since blockade continues, but it's his position.

The actual hard deadline for full withdrawal absent congressional authorization is the 90 day mark, which lands around early June.

Iran's 30 day deadline lands at almost exactly the same time. That's not random. They're using US domestic legal architecture as leverage. By imposing their own deadline aligned with WPR withdrawal date, they force Trump into one of four options:

1. Reach a deal in 30 days (Iran wins, war ends without capitulation)
2. Get congressional authorization to continue (politically dead given $40-50B cost overruns and base damage)
3. Withdraw forces (Iran wins by default)
4. Ignore WPR entirely (constitutional crisis on top of everything else)

Project Freedom is Trump trying to break the deadline convergence by creating a new variable. "Humanitarian mission" framing means the legal theory is this doesn't extend WPR clock since it's not combat operations. If it works, he claims victory and resets political timeline. If it fails or Iran responds, he gets justification for ignoring WPR and continuing.

Multiple clocks all expiring early-to-mid June: Iran's 30 day proposal, WPR 90 day mark, Iranian oil storage crisis (Kharg full, Jask 60% full, wells degrading), California gasoline inventory drawdown, Pentagon $200B funding request needing approval.

Iran is playing this smart. Most sophisticated use of American legal mechanisms by an adversary I've seen.

and none of this matters since no president since the WPA was signed into law have given a shit about, and Congress itself, if forced to a vote, would approve the continuation since they dont want to own the consequences of stopping it. If they let it continue, whatever opposition can continue to hang it on Trump. Even the fact that Trump is playing that game it to give Congress the fig leaf of cover they need to drop the issue at least in the short term.

Yes? Hasn't Trump said that we don't need the Strait so it doesn't even matter to us if its closed? Was that a lie? Or was he lying when he said we can't allow Iran to control the Strait? Which is it fag?
Also, you act like we're "choosing" to leave it in the hands of the IRGC. There is no military solution to this problem. If Trump could force the Strait open, he would. We can't, not without paying a price so high that its nowhere near worth doing it. We no longer have a choice in the matter.

>>534395069
Why would it be expensive? Let them pay the iranian tax. Would only be a buck a barrel.
>>
>>534394957
You're right we produce enough crude. Two problems: our refineries were built for heavy sour from the Gulf Arabs, not light sweet shale, so we can't fully use what we pump. And new refineries take 10-15 years and $5-10B each. Last major one built was 1976. NIMBY, permitting, and capital cycles killed the buildout long before any Democrat got involved. Oil is also fungible globally — even fully self-sufficient, our prices rise to whatever Asia is paying when Hormuz closes. The fix is reinstating the export ban or Jones Act waivers, not new refineries. Those work in weeks. Refineries work in decades.
>>
>>534394943
No doubt they considered it. They went anyway. Short term pain for long term gain.
>>

>Let them pay the iranian tax
That's antisemitic tho.
>>
>>534395060
Kpler reported Iran's tanker loadings dropped 70% since the blockade started. Kharg Island terminal is full, Jask is 60% full, and Iran is using trapped tankers inside the Gulf as floating storage. Kpler does physical tracking via satellite and AIS — that's the gold standard for tanker data, used by every major commodity desk. Not analyst opinion, observable physical evidence. You can argue blockade running offsets some of it but the storage saturation is independently verifiable through commercial maritime tracking services
