I always took it to mean their interpretation of the constitution was very narrow in scope, as in interpreted very conservatively, with less willingness to find implied meaning in the language. Conversely, those who interpret it more liberally try to reconcile contextual and technological differences widened by time by extracting meaning that doesn't technically exist but they believe is within the same spirit. It's where you used to get the fairy tales about (((small government))) though people don't really keep up with the facade anymore: if you interpret the constitution very conservatively it just doesn't say a lot about what the federal government is allowed to do, and that means they're not allowed to do it. Anyway, the labels are fake and you're gay for asking
