Shit bros, they've hit the third world. I'm finally done with Reddit.
>>534465236Is it illegal to use a fake ID
>>534465466Who the f would bother with that and risk criminal charges just to post on reddit?
What cunt?Depending on the kind of third world, I may consider this a good thing if you're the annoying kind of third worlder.
There was a time when the wording would have been “please confirm your age”. The change of wording to “let’s confirm your age” shows you that the people who design these systems have nothing but contempt for you and think you’re a servile idiot. That alone prevents me from ever submitting to such a request. More and more companies interface with their users as if they were parents talking to their mentally challenged child, it’s depressing seeing how many people go along with that
>>534465735They treat us like cattle, simple as. Even medieval peasants were treated better than this.
>>534465735Astute observation & sound analysis. Don't cave.
>>534465236A not insignificant amount of people will just stop using these non-essential websites when they start asking for IDs
>>534465889A not insignificant amount of people, but unfortunately not nearly enough. The overwhelming majority of users will comply and as a result more sites will start doing it.
>>534465236Elon makes you do both
>>534465236>personano.
>>534465992Sure and that's crap too, but at least Twitter was never about being anonymous, just like Facebook and YouTube. Reddit was supposed to be a normie anon forum to shit talk and vent.
>>534465929I have started to see "selfie people" as enablers to this system. They posted 100s of selfies on facebook, instagram, bluesky, etc. What is another selfie for Reddit to them? What's worse is that they also have an effective megaphone for the nature of the platforms no matter how mediocre or average their lives or opinions are.
>>534465236You must go back tho. Im sick and tired of seeing these reddit circle jerk threads of charlie/erika kirk.
>>534465578The brainwashed cattle known as 'redditors' would.
>>534466326I wonder if this kind of thing might lead to a resurgence of online forums. Not those walled gardens that are just anti-reddit or anti-facebook knockoffs with a big label of "here lies right wingers" or leftist safe space bubble, but especialized forums based on different subjects like in the good old days.
>>534467598That was how all the information that enabled LLMs was aggregated. It seems like the natural human tendency is to use these tools like that, to freely request and share categorized information to help each other navigate situations requiring specific knowledge. You know, because it's just the right thing to do.
