Be a 40 billion dollar company have no owners pay no tax.
Cut out entire forests during the night nobody cares.
Move lumber over borders nobody checks where it's from.
How do they do it ?
Who actually owns this thing?

Inter IKEA group is based in Netherlands and is fully owned by the IKEA Foundation based in Lichtenstein. The lumber is from Latvia isn't it?
>>
>>534472750
oddly enough it's owned by a charity called Stichting INGKA foundation. The foundation has no owners?

>Self-Owned Entity: As a Dutch stichting (foundation), it is an independent legal entity that does not have beneficial owners, and nobody is entitled to its assets.

Weird.

In May 2006, The Economist magazine estimated that the parent organization's foundation's endowment was worth US$36 billion, making it the world's wealthiest charity at the time; however, it also stated that the foundation "is at the moment also one of its least generous. The overall set-up of IKEA minimises tax and disclosure, handsomely rewards the founding Kamprad family and makes IKEA immune to a takeover"

Why doesn't everyone do this?

Find a founder find who owns the money.
And no everything you said is wrong and a common misconception legally it has nothing to do with the Netherlands anymore

For me? It's the Skansnas

>Cut out entire forests during the night nobody cares.

both these statements are wrong dude. Have you ever actually been to an Ikea? All Ikea furniture is cheap MDF crap. MDF is made from sawdust. Ikea buys the sawdust in bulk from BoiseCascade. Ikea makes their products from waste. The stuff that uses real lumber is usually low quality softwoods anyway, stuff that is bioengineered and grown in managed forests that are seasonally cultivated.

>How do they do it ?
The Romanian lumber is bought from local zigani lumberyards.
They tell IKEA that the lumber is legal and provide paperwork to prove it, IKEA in Romania understands that the law in Romania is whatever the police are paid to act on as the law so they buy it.

That problem is much larger than IKEA and about 5% of your nations GDP.
At least they aren't active in your mining industry.

As for how they don't pay taxes?
They do, but operate as a non profit so the net result is usually close to 0 and not taxable.
Do note that most large companies operate at an accounting loss to get tax deductions.
Are they losing money? No, but write-offs etc are reported as capital loss which can be used to reduce taxes on profits etc.
>Who actually owns this thing?
It's a trust.
A relic from Swedens tax system where high income earners could have a top marginal tax rate of over 102% (Astrid Lindgren, the Pippi Longstocking writer complained about it in the media in 1976 because she had to pay more in taxes (just normal taxes, not tax evasion fines) than she earned).

So business owners of that era decided it was better not to own their companies and own it via family trusts that had no owner.
He placed his trust in Lichtenstein, and that trust owns IKEA.
His family members are on the board of that trust and decide who gets in or out.

However, the taxes on the owned companies (by the trust) and all employees pay taxes as normal.
