They haven't even truly begun the humiliation ritual.
This is all foreplay.
>Nvidia, PulteGroup, and startup Span are quietly building something wild: a network of AI servers bolted to the sides of American homes.

Explain this to me as a non-electrician, because as I understand it you don’t pay up front for X amount of electricity and then at the end of the billing cycle the stuff you didn’t use is “unused electricity”.

I normally do no condone theft. Ibalways looked down on the sort of people whobtry to condone shop lifting and call them spiritual niggers. In this case however o fully condone it. If it's 10 grand worth of crap, the best case scenario is like $30 off of your mortgage each month. And that's not including any sort of maintenance or upgrades or installation. You'll probably get less than $20 off each month. And be on the hook for it if some crack head backs a truck up and jackhammers it straight off the side of your house at 3am.

I'm guessing they look at the average electricity consumption per household in a given city and how much the local power suppliers can...well, supply. If you use less power on a day than the city average, the rest will be used to run AI.
I think this is meant to "level out" power consumption for data centers in places where energy is limited and the grids can't handle dedicated mega centers.
It will still rape the power grid, of course.
>>

Seriously. Please do this near me. Daddy wants a brand new blackwell gpu. If they make them hard to get at I still think sinking a few anchor points and a good winch could yank them off pretty quick. Gonna take some refining to make the snatch fast enough but even then I'm sure even if I don't do it myself cheap stuff will quickly hit the streets in a "fell off the back of a truck" sort of way. Do you understand why you have circuit breakers? They phrased it a little weirdly, but they obviously mean they're using the unused capacity of the infrastructure that connects to the house, not literally using "unused electricity". Because it's probably simpler for them than building a massive data center somewhere and needing high voltage lines built out to supply all the power they need.

The idea fundamentally makes sense as long as the server has a separate power meter and bill. Having the server there will make latency basically zero for people in the area. This will enable future realtime applications of AI like controlling bots and generating augmented reality. I hope they are basically just renting space from you. It makes perfect sense, this is a great idea as long as the hardware doesn't get stolen.

>Electricity does not flow through the wires. (It flows in the electromagnetic field around the wires.)

The fields are what cause the electrons to move, anon, same as water pressure in pipes. Water pressure is generated in the first place by the movement of water, same as how electromagnetic fields are generated by the movement of electrons.

This actually makes a lot of sense from a heat dissipation perspective.
Right now we spend absurd amounts of energy to heat homes and cool data centers.
Most homes already have high speed internet and electricity, so redistributing the waste heat generated from my AI smut to heat residential homes makes perfect sense.
Otherwise we're wasting energy on both ends.

Not only that niggers with crackheads will start stripping shit out of those, the hardware is already at deficit because all contracts have been already bought out for at least 5 years ahead, meaning only mega corporations got access to memory chips and they'll rather bury them all in a landfill if they don't get any use of them instead of selling them or repurposing them. Not to mention, that people start stripping those out on their own because nobody will want to put up with this bullshit and pay extra for electricity.

This is a scam that's not going to go anywhere.
I work at a data center, we were here before the AI bubble, I'm probably going to quit and go to an easier job later because the pay's not worth the stress.
What civilians pay, and what corporations are vastly different - that RAM is probably $750k at the lowest. No one's going to insure this, this will get stolen, almost immediately. Real data centers have 24/7 onsite surveillance and off-site monitoring, that are staffed with security guards with a perimeter control. If any of you ever see a random gray, unmarked building that has massive gates and barbed wire fences, that is most likely a data center.
This guy also forgot the switchgears and UPS systems, most civilians are also not going to enjoy finding out what a megawatt is and how high the electricity bill will be. Our electricity expense, for our medium sized outfit, it's roughly $225k a month. It's probably higher now. My civilian electricity bill, with solar panels, is $120 a month. People are not going to enjoy $1k-$5k electricity bills. These systems are also delicate, there's a reason why they're in extremely filtered rooms and not outside in the parking lot. We're not allowed to use brooms in the data centers because they don't want to risk a broom bristle getting lodged into a fan.
This is a jeet scam, it's not happening. Retarded investors who fall for this should be deported.

wtf is all this 'reduce your mortgage costs' bs?
They install their panel, for free (but only on new builds). They rent out the panel capacity to (whoever). They become the properties main electricity and internet user, and sublet part of that to you, the homeowner, for 'a discounted rate'.
And that's all your getting, for handing over your electricity + internet supply, plus part of your property rights, to these jeets of uncertain future prospects. And I'm not seeing how that would either reduce mortgage costs or add property value, quite the opposite. And this stuff about 'using spare electricity' is complete horseshit. The line is theirs - they have first dibs and if you're lucky, they'll sell you whatevers left over of your supply capacity. tldr, like selling your roof space to some solar company, it's not a Great Deal and will probably fuck you some down the line. They'll prob. earn from people buying themselves back out of this shit tho.

This seems really stupid. Why not inside the house? Do I own it, or does it belong to someone else? What about upgrades and maintenance? Security? It's fucking retarded.
