If something goes wrong there will be specialists on the ground who will be able to establish remote access and troubleshoot or land the plane if needed. Therefore the DEI hired pilots (system monitors) will be largely inconsequential and the CEO knows this which is why he is happy to hire them. United Airlines and the CEO gain brownie points and the DEI hires don't have any serious responsibility or decision making capacity.
