Especially when you consider the Byzantine empire and how they were the origin of the term "oriental despotism." Far more corrupt than even the western European aristocracies. It was an extremely corrupt state in general and it allowed the migration of Syriacs and North Africans into Italy and Greece for mammon which had a significant effect in damaging the Italian and Greek genepools. Under Justinian "the Great" (who bankrupted the state with his building projects and wars) there was a great effort to keep good relations with Khazaria from which much of Modern Jewry originates. The Roman empire for non-rebelling Jewish populations was extremely tolerant of the Jewish diaspora both before and after as it was common for Jews to voluntarily migrate from Judea to buy slaves and run a plantation outside of Judea within the empire. Even with the three Jewish wars the diaspora would be mostly untouched as long as they did not forcibly circumcise NON-slaves. They didn't care if they forced conversion of slaves. Moreover unlike Christians, Diaspora Jews especially did not have a problem with lying about their religion if it meant they could access the market much like they would later perform false conversions in Christian Kingdoms. The average person was a serf in no better conditions than anywhere else in Europe. Arguably in peace time much of western Europe was better off outside of the empire. The death of the empire was an ultimate good. It's certainly true that the world was better without Islam but that's a universal fact. It's not the decline of Persia or the Roman empire which was the problem. It is just Islam and all the anti-western religions and peoples.
