So are Bosnians really just Serbs and Croats, but with a muslim faith? And that the "bosnian" identity didnt really exist until the 19th century?
>>534552884>X identity didn't exist until Y What's the point of saying that like it invalidates Bosnian identity. You realize every ethnicity didn't exist until a certain point
>>534553384Laos probably has the least 'identity' compared to ancient Viets, Siamese and Khmers.Nevertheless it doesnt answer my question. Stop seething at the question just because it's not "nice".

>>534555398bosnia is area herzegovina literally means dutchy or something there cannot be bosnian people or ethnosmuslims are ape monkey people serbs and croats are slavs you cannot live with monkey people
>>534554311> Stop seething at the question just because it's not "nice".Yeah that’s not what he did. The point is that all ethnicities are manufactured.
>>534555641Do you have reading disability? The question was: Are Bosnians essentially just Serbs and Croats, with only the religion being different? And consequently, does the identity of Bosnian only originate on this premise? You could literally answer this with a simple yes or no.
>>534555891there is no Bosnian people it is areaslav may interbreed with each otherbut will never interbreed with the ape monkey muslimsthere are different species effectively
>>534555869>all ethnicities are manufactured. No they arent. There is a clear difference between a German and a Pole.A Swede and a RussianAn Italian and a GreekThese identities are not 'manufactured'. They're real and have existed for thousands of years.
They considered themselves Turks because of religion. Even now everybody calls them Turks. Bosnian was and always will be a geographic term, just like Herzegovinian or Slavonian or Sremac or whatever. Only after Ottoman empire left they started talking about nationality, some of them considered themselves Serbs, some Croats and some were doing the we are separate thing from the beginning. This was mostly Austria's doing because they needed Bosnia's identity to be separate from Croatian and especially Serbian because of the politics at the time. WWI messed things up and Yugoslavia was established and muslims were pretty much considered just any ethnic minority with no national identity but an ethno religous one. Then commies after WWII gave them capital "M" in muslim so they were considered muslim Yugoslavs. This Bosniak thing(Bosniak is just a variant of Bosnian and is geographic term, there a lot of people who have last name Bošnjak who are Serbs or Croats) was cooked up in the early 90's by secular intellectuals who didnt identify with the islamic character of the group. Besides they thought naming themselves as Bosniaks will make them have bigger stake in whole Bosnia thing because Bosniak=Bosnia and it will somehow magically be 100% theirs. Mind you they control only around 23% of the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.Anyway, by the party decree in 1993 they renamed themselves. And it took them a long time to actually teach people how to declare themselves. Even in the last census back in 2013, they had trouble so they made all these educational videos and campaigns to tell people what to say who they are.All this wouldnt be a problem if they just admited they exist as a nation since 1993. but no they try to claim 1000 years of history and whatnot, claiming Serbs and Croats arent native to Bosnia and Herzegovina and stupid shit like that.
>>534552884I'm gonna give my 2 cents, despite my limited knowledge.>BosniansThose would be Bosniaks, Bosnians are just citizens of BiH, while Bosniaks are actual Muslims. Muslims obviously didn't really exist in the region until Ottomans came. That being said, they used to be Christians, with Church called "Bosnian Church", which was like a mix of Catholicism and Orthodox. The Banat/dutchy and later kingdom was both influenced by Croats (later Hungarians too) and Serbs. Ottomans did their best to destroy Bosnian heritage and culture that they had, so converts to Islam "became" Bosniaks, while those closer to Catholicism or Catholics became Croats, same with Orthodox Christians who became Serbs.
>>534555891They were the same, but after Ottomans came their religion and culture began to diverge. There are things like folk dresses, jewlery and those things which are only exclusive to them. They existed as an ethnicity since 16th century but not as a nation.
>>534555891Yes its a manufactured geographic ethnogenesis created through power politics.Bosnian as an identity is no different than being a Vermonter or Uruguayan.Serbs and Croats both are Slavic tribes orginiating from White Serbia and White Croatia respectively.Mohammedism does help however foster this synthetic identity, as seen when Muslims in Serbia identify as "Bosniak"
>>534556125Bosniak is a variant of Bosnian, even in catholic churches and documents they called themselves Bosniak. It isnt exclusive.Bosnian church is just an attempt of making an independent church akin to swedish or british one some 100 years before those churches. It wasn't any more different in theology than other ones, some of its scripts are still used in orthodox church. Bosnian chruch was 100% just a political project. Bosnia was a border region between Serbs and Croats both of whom swore fealty to the bosnian king, back then nobody gave a shit about ethnicity and nationality didnt exist yet. So you had one part of the country being populated by serbs(orthodox) and other with catholics(croats). When ottomans came, people from both of those groups, mainly landowners and aristocracy converted to islam and thus muslims aka bosniaks were born.
>>534556032> There is a clear difference between a German and a Pole. There really, really, really isn’t though. The leading Polish nationalist today is a guy named Braun. Another famous Polish politician Janusz Korwin-Mikke is a distant relative of German war hero Hellmuth von Mücke. Eric Von Manstein who led Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland was a Pole born in Germany, born Eduard von Lewinski. The Polish general Juliusz Karol Wilhelm Józef Rómmel who led the Polish defense of Warsaw against Nazi Germany was a distant cousin Erwin Rommel. Donald Tusk had a Polish Nazi grandfather. Millions of Poles signed blood oaths to become “Germans” when the Nazis invaded. It’s all actually quite arbitrary.
