Food prices are already bad, but they are only going to get worse in the coming years. So do yourself a favor and GROW SOME YOURSELF. If you plant some fruit/nut trees/shrubs/vines NOW and maybe start raising livestock, you will save yourself a lot of grief.

You can actually eat the seeds.

It doesn't have to be expensive. You can buy a handful of plants and then just keep cloning them over and over.

Even better if you grow stuff that isn't available in stores.

Ever had jujube? When eaten fresh, it's like an apple with a slight caramel taste. If left on the tree, it natural dries up for long term storage and makes a fantastic tea.

Fruit is proto-goyslop.

Fruit are delicious, especially paired with meat.
>>
Ever had hazelnut butter? It's fucking amazing. It absolutely puts peanut butter to shame.
>>
this is a good thread. I have chilli pepper seeds that are germinating right now

My north England garden is 12ft by 30ft north facing.
I grow rhubarb, blueberry, blackberry, strawberry, raspberry, fig, chives, mint, thyme, rosemary, potatoes and flowers.
I use activated charcoal soaked in years old compost using filtered water.
>>
planting fruit trees makes sense. zero maintenance.
the other stuff is back breaking labor.

Takes longer to get a full sized tree and the deer will do their best to make sure it never grows up.

IMHO it's worth the cost to buy from a garden store. You get deer proof top, good root stock, few years' head start on production.

Make sure to buy trees that are at least one zone hardier than what you think you need, otherwise you're just giving money to the Fruit Jew.

Don't bury the little stump of the rootstock or fungus will get in.

Wrap trunk to protect from gnawing.

I will just manifest food. If manifesting works for women, it can work for me.

Tree's, Berries, and Perennial vegetables chads rise up.
>>
>>534562767
I agree. If you have chickens, you should also put stones around the base to prevent them from digging up and scratching the roots.
>>
>>534562305
That's a pretty good collection you got going.
>>
>>534562862
You would be better off planting things and manifesting good harvests.

If you have room for them and are in the right climate (zones 4 to 8), you should absolutely plant mulberries. They're ridiculously productive.

isolation. if you have food and your neighbors don't, gets what happens?
>>
>>534564491
You can help them feed themselves and make good friends or, if they try to just steal your food, you get free fertilizer.
>>
>>534560192
it's hard man. The birds and shit eat everything.
>>
>>534565168
I'm not going to sweat a few fruits being eaten by the birds or squirrels.
Birds spread seeds and the squirrels are emergency meat.
>>
Don't neglect perennial vegetables, either.
Rhubarb is crazy good in jams.

If you're in the right zone (8-11), you could grow the best bananas you've ever eaten. You'll never want a cavendish banana again.

a lot of westerners are urbanites and thus only have community gardens at best for their soil source, this would only really help the people who already have land to garden on (and you'll need a lot more than gardening land to RAISE LIVESTOCK)

You would be surprised. People raise quail indoors.
Ever had quail? It's like a single serve chicken.
>>
>>534562386
Already have mine ready to plant and started half my garden.
>>
>>534566934
yeah quail is fine, but it really depends on how much living space you have and how well you can manage your time between livestock and work and sleep etc.
>>
>>534567411
It's no different than having birds as pets. You build an enclosure, give them food/water once a day and listen to the cute sounds they make.
Quail eggs are also really tasty.

If that's where we're going, we're definitely going to need more food

If you're in zones 9B to 11, you should consider growing date palms!
Sugar dates are ridiculously tasty and they preserve well when dried.

Why aren't you growing pawpaw if you live in it's range?
