The new venezuelan government made some deals with american companies (which maduro didn't really even object to ) and that was it.. nothing much else changed other than oil shit. Yes it was all about the oil and now the US seems to have 'restored relations' with venezuela.

The US could easily have eliminated China/Russia/Iran influence in Venezuela by lifting sanctions.As for Cuba, that's probably because of the US holding Venezuelan trade routes hostage, rather than it was the abduction of Maduro.
