I have a literal 200mph super bike that gets like 40mpg if I ride the speed limit, I've been riding this for months in Florida and been enjoying watching the cage cucks cry about gas prices while I didn't even notice they went up. Hot all the time here the only issue is rain but wearing a rainsuit over your clothes makes it good

Anything under 250cc (and that is pushing it) is not meant for American roads. Those little bikes are cool, if I lived on some massive compound I would own one to fuck around on. But to actually drive that on the streets is asking for trouble.

You can find used ones for like 4-5k and they will run until christ himself comes back to collect it. They are asininly reliable, they are stupid easy to work on, they got 20 years worth of parts and knowlege out in the world. Its perfect for city riding and non freeway. Technically you can take it on the free way, but i would not take a stock DRZ400 onto the freeway without regearing the 5th gear at least because sure it will do free way speeds in top gear but its gonna be screaming.

The biggest downside of the 400 is that its only 5 gears, so IMO you gotta go in and make gear 5 taller if you wanna ride above 60 with out making it work. DRZ is basically a 4 stroke dirt bike Suzuki slapped lights, blinkers, a speedometer, and a license plate holder on and made it street leagel. You can beat the ever loving shit outta them, ride them hard put them away wet and they will keep fucking going. Most bikes life time is measured in hours ridden or miles ridden, the DRZ400 is measured in years because it wont fucking die as long as you keep feeding it oil, filters, coolant, and gas, it just wont fucking die. You can also do some wild shit and get a big bore kit for it and boost it up to 450cc but thats expensive and at that point just get a DR600 The biggest draw back of it, is for a dirt bike, its kind of a pig, its heavy and you dont wanna lay it down more then a few times on a ride in the sticks or else you are gonna tire yourself out.

Get a little bit of fluency in shifting and low-speed manuevering beforehand will make the course a cakewalk. I personally think motorcycles are fun as fuck and great for personal transportation but I wouldn't want it to be my only option. You should totally get one just be aware they generally require more attention and maintenance per mile than your average consumer go-box. In my case my truck gets driven less than 2,000mi a year because the climate here makes it easy to ride all year. Fuel savings are nice but consumables will eat into that a bit, bigger bikes especially. 1-2 sets of tires a year is absolutely possible if you ride a lot, for example. You can see the tire sizes and get mileage estimates, oil capacity, insurance, gear, etc and see how much sense it makes financially vs running your car, but for me I just enjoy it so I don't think about the cost too much.
