Years ago, I visited some of my friends in Sweden, whom I had met online playing Dota 2, and at one point they all took me to visit their families' homes, and every one of their families was incredibly nice and welcoming and fed me some really awesome food. I attended a Christmas/Jul gathering with some of their extended family, maybe around 20 people there, and they all spoke English the whole time just because I was there and they wanted me to understand. My only first hand impression of Swedes is that they are nice people and that the stereotype of them being cold and unwelcoming is unjustified
