>McDonald's is offering a $2.50 McDouble for a limited time on its McValue menu — but some customers argue the so-called "deal" highlights how far fast-food prices have climbed.
>"On social media, some folks have voiced their distaste for McDonald's seemingly never-ending price increases, claiming that customers are falling for the old switcheroo," The Takeout reported.
>"Anyone remember when McDoubles used to be 99 cents? It was only 10 years ago," a Reddit user wrote, in part.

So don't eat fast food. Its fuckin garbage food that slowly kills you
>>
Fast food is literally at its cheapest, its healthy food thats gotten expensive.
>>
>>534594312
Just 3 years ago the app had a Buy one get one QP for $5, that is reasonable, $2.50 for a quarter pounder, a little bitty mcdouble for $2.50 ain't worth it
>>
>>534594312
what the fuck i havent eaten at mcdonalds since 2018 and it was $1.25 for a mcdouble back then and that wasnt even that long ago and now $2.50 is considered "le heckin epic deal!!" even though a mcdouble is half the size and half the quality it was in 2018
>>
>>534594525
lol wut? Fast food prices have AT LEAST doubled, sometimes tripled over 10 years. My Bison meat that I buy sure as fuck hasn't tripled over 10 years.
>>
>>534594444
not enough time to justify prices going up 8x (when you consider what you are buying is now half the size it was back then and half the quality, not just 2-3x the price)
>>
Whoa the mcdouble food product for only 2.50? What a great restaurant!
>>
>>534594533
mcdoubles used to be absolutely FUCKHUGE in the early 2000s for only $0.50 each and i making minimum wage ate fast food for every meal. everyone did back then.
>>
>>534594591
My ground beef has almost quadrupled in 6 years. It used to be 1.99 per pound. Now it is $7-8 per pound. And the quality has dropped significantly.
>>
>>534594312
I stopped going when a large fries always came no matter which location, half empty.
They used to fill it up overflowing. What is the point?
>>
>>534594634
I lived off them and jack in the crack 99 cent double tacos back in the 00s.
>>
>>534594634
my favorite food back then was beef jerky, which came in bags literally 4x the size of the largest sold today and was cheap. so cheap homeless people routinely ate it as a cheap snack. now i havent been able to afford beef jerky in years despite making $35/hour when back then i was making minwage
>>
>>534594661
Walmart's ground beef is now literally a bag of mush, as if they are literally watering it down which i guarantee you they must be.
>>
>>534594549
It's not even because the raw ingredients have increased in price. It's because McDonalds NEEDS to have increasingly HIGHER profits every quarter. Endless growth at all cost. That's why people are scoffing at this $2.50 McDouble, because it's not even that good of a deal, yet they are promoting it as if it is. Mcdonalds has already cut back significantly on portion sizes. The patty is a piece of paper at this point. They can't reduce costs there anymore than they have unless they start filling the burger buns and nuggies with sawdust. We're very quickly reaching the end game of the 'Needing growth every quarter' scheme.
>>
>>534594525
name a "healthy food" guarantee you mean some bullshit
>>
>>534594711
also something isnt even right about today's beef jerky, it has a weird texture, as if it is cut with onions protein or something, possibly meat glue. it isnt at all like it was in the 2000s in terms of texture. back then it was like denser harder actual dried meat.
>>
>>534594312
Good. Good! Now realize that Israel takes for granted that you will die for it, in exchange for immiseration, no hpuse, no wife, and unable to buy a burger.
>>
>>534594753
raw ingredients are getting very low quality but people dont realize. flour for example now has wheat contained in it that would have been considered rotten, molded, or otherwise unfit for human consumption just 10 years ago, to reduce cost.
>>
>>534594661
I don't buy ground beef, so I can't say anything about that. My Bison beef used to be $4/300g 5 years ago, and now it's $6/300g.

I will say though that sometimes I buy frozen burgers, and I've noticed, mostly within the last 3 months, that they're 100% filling the patties with water. My pan may as well be steaming the fucking burgers with how much water spills out of it and evaporates, turning the burgers significantly smaller than they looked when frozen. Gonna have to just stop buy those as well.
>>
>>534594591
>hey this thing used to be virtually free, why am I having to pay for this slop now when I could eat 10 of these without sweating?
hmm, obese Americans. The 99 cent slop burger answers everything.

especially as the perspective of your life shifts so that 10 years is no longer like 40-50% of it but more like 30%
or 20%

Today, I ordered at Mcdonald's, and they forgot to put Ranch Wrap in the bag, how the fuck do they hire people this incompetent? This isn't the first time that happened to me though, this happened many times actually. Sometimes they would forget napkins, straw or even sauces. Unironically never ordering from fagdonald's ever again. Their food isn't as great as it use to be and it's also expensive. Might as well eat rice and cooked ground beef at home.
>>
>>534594661
>And the quality has dropped significantly
This is what Australia has been suffering through with Trump's tariffs. We know that American meat has seen significant declines in quality, and it has mysterious origins as well. So when Trump demanded we, as a nation which exports world class beef across the world, allow American beef to be sold here we gave a bunch of conditions. Orange man sperged and started threatening all sorts of shit. Our demands were quite reasonable, the meat had to be able to be tracked from farm to market so we could trace any illnesses/diseases and that it not use any banned substances like the various antibiotics that are banned here but not there. This was unacceptable for Trump and the situation deteriorated. Thankfully RFK Jr stepped in and went, "Actually, those Aussies might be onto something there" and now America has a tiered meat industry, shit that complies with international standards, and the poisonous slop served to the American people
>>
>>534595195
>Thankfully RFK Jr stepped in and went, "Actually, those Aussies might be onto something there" and now America has a tiered meat industry, shit that complies with international standards, and the poisonous slop served to the American people
yeah no, just because the media says it doesn't mean it happened, they say shit like that all the time and then it just goes away
you get chicken from a taco bell that is merged with a long john silvers because same parent company and it still tastes like neither chicken nor fish but some unholy combination of both
the sauce covers it up fairly well though, highly recommended
>>
They also fully degraded the dining experience. It's empty, cold, sterile, and no refills at all. I'd rather pay $1-2 more and go to a fast food joint that feels better and treats you like a human, if I were to get fast food.
>>
>>534594312
It wasn't already over $2.50 a double?
>>
>>534595486
Because they don't want you to dine in. They want you to get your food and go. This isn't unique to McDonald's either. Most fast food places are like this. If you want a good dine in experience, go to a proper sit down restaurant.
>>
>>534594797
I’ve noticed this as well. It’s like glue now, not dried meat. Probably a mixture of using fattier cuts of meat and injecting fillers.
>>
>people are eating less goyslop because the goyslop companies are callous and charge too much
Whatever gets them to stop eating that shit.
>>
Even the dine in restaurants have terrible food. Its not unique to fast food. The whole food supply is cornered by 3 big providers. Sysco foods supplies like some 30% of all diners, slop huts, and cafes in my city. Beef is a big one thats been wonky. Its like all beef is getting mixed with glue and other protein.

quality has slipped big time in australia. it used to taste pretty good in 80s-2000s. after 2010 not so much. mostly inedible.
>>
>1/10th ounce patty
>1/5th of a pound of meat in mcdouble
>That's 12.50 per pound for beef
Grass fed beef is 7.47 dollars a pound at shart mart and it comes in 1 pound freezer-ready packages.

If you want some ragebait open that OP article btw and boomers are blaming all of this on minimum wage, it's just minimum wage going up bro that's why mcdonalds burgers they mass-produce on a grill cost as much as steak would cost you.
>>
>>534596615
And some more numbers - quotes from mcdonalds people
> Thousands. We store 12 in a tray and normally have 6-8 trays full at any time. If it's busy, we're going through a tray in a couple minutes, sometimes way more if it's a new promotion day or Friday/Saturday/bank holiday.
4hours×60=240mins 240mins÷2mins=120 120×12=1,440
Minimum 1440 patties within 4 hours if a new tray gets made every 2 minutes.
> 100lbs is about 3 boxes of 10:1 patties . There’s also the 4:1 patties . I would say about 6-10 boxes a day is usually the norm on a good day depending on the customer volume of the day.

So the workers say that they go through like 200 or 300 pounds of meat a day. It's just one guy frying all those burgers. Just looking at these numbers is insane, from those same burgers for this limited-time promotion that's 2,500 dollars + worth of meat done by whoever's manning that grill.

Yeah it must be minimum wage.
>>
>>534594312
Go to the other 10 small owned family restaurants or bars/grills...that'll show em! They'll reheat sysco food because the restaurant industry is dead. All a monopoly by GFS, Sysco, Restaurant Depot & the others. We'll all soon be eating off a standardized cafeteria menu unless we cook our own shit or go to an overly expensive in house restaurant

certain things like pic related are 20x the price they were in the 90s. Pine Sol cleaner USED TO BE almost pure pine oil now it has none and smells like stank toxic chemicals which it is. so if you want something equivalent to what Pine Sol was in the 90s you have to buy something like pic related, which would have been $2.50 in the 90s now its $60

even someone on minwage in the 90s could afford REAL Pine Oil in like 20 minutes of work. now it takes someone like 3 hours of work
>>
>>534596782
now 1 gallon of pine oil can be yours for only $10.71 per month for 6 months!
>>
>>534596761
Pretty much the only still viable "fast food" is a local pizza place who will come in and give you a meal for 6-7 dollars (two slices of pizza is a meal if you're not obese), or the chinese place that will give you a meal for 10. So there are still a couple places around that will feed you.
And if you've got a local diner they can be affordable at around 10-13 dollars a meal.

Yeah other than that it's over, they feed you microwaved frozen meals and overcharge for it.
>>
>>534596615
are you retarded nigger? the entire point of fast food is that you dont have to cook it yourself. you pay extra for the convenience of not having to buy all of those groceries and cook and assemble it yourself. the problem is now that the convenience has too much of a premium.

they got rid of the mcflurry because wagies can't be bothered to blend ingredients into ice cream. even with tuition assistance and heath care. the sheetz moved their garbage cans away from the front door so you're less inclined to throw out your trash....because modern wagies have ascended from that lower behavior.

learn to make your own. It's what I did.
I treated myself to a deli slicer and a nice dehydrator and make all my food myself.
Now I enjoy jerky that's much better than store bought.
Sliced meat + Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, salt, pepper, sucralose, cayenne powder makes delicious sweat heat jerky. You've never had good jerky until you've made some that hasn't had the fat fully trimmed.
The economy is not going to get better in our lifetime so cooking (among many other things) is something you're going to have to learn to do anyway. Not as a hobby, but as a way of life.
