It's all relative. As long as there are people doing better than you, you won't feel like you're doing good. Internet increases exposure to the top so you can never feel good even when you have everything you need and more. Like if you want to be a doctor nowadays, you have to have to basically have to undergo a long uninterrupted gauntlet from middle school all the way to undergrad, with perfect grades, robust extracurriculars, volunteering, side projects, hobbies, and then everything else before you're considered. And if you're interrupted for many years by something like poor physical or mental health or something else, you have no chance to get back in, and then there's going to be age discrimination. A lot of it will be gated from you, even though in the past many professions were literally just taught through people taking people as apprentices and thrown immediately into the job. The new system causes analysis paralysis and neuroticism.3. People want to be in well-paid professions which is why they're in high demand, so spots are limited and coveted, and it's why competition is so fierce (2). Most other jobs are paid the bare minimum, and are run in a min-maxed fashion. Like most jobs outside of the stable well-paid professions are run in low-paid, cutthroat conditions, like people who work in factories, assembly lines, airplane mechanics etc. They also tend to work you to the bone. Like people who work in aircraft assembly, physical trades or similar usually end up with lifelong debilitating problems because they have to crouch or be on their knees for hours and hours and hours on end. If you're a subcontractor for construction or technical IT work you're basically like an EMS and need to be on call 24/7 which fucks up your sleep cycle for life. Again, these businesses are run so sparingly that people don't get paid nearly enough for the damage they accumulate
