I have the feeling that this is clearly the end of the West. Obviously, there are the migration issues that dilute our racial and cultural identities. But our economies are simply no longer competitive. The Chinese are destroying European industries. The Americans, for their part, have an incompetent administration that doesn’t know what it wants and has been militarily defeated/thwarted by Iran. They are also deeply in debt and unable to close their deficit.

Is this really such a bad thing? Europe had a pretty good run, but the morning sun never lasts a day. Europeans have given the world many great people and ideas, but as of today, they have pretty much exhausted their civilization-building capacity. Since the end of WW II Europe has not managed to give the world much innovation in both cultural and scientific domain and that's natural, Europe is in its retirement age now but refusing to acknowledge it is no longer the cradle of civilization it once was. New brave players such as the US and China are shaping the world now and best Europe can do is gracefully step down and let the new generation have their shots at leading humankind. You did a lot of great things and a lot of evil things too, but it’s time to let go and retire. You used to be in the vanguard of civilization, but now you are just standing in its way.

Plus, US still has the ambition to continue the struggle, while Europe simply does not. As bad and incompetent as Trump is, he is a clear sign American population is not content with the US sliding into irrelevancy and is willing to at least put up a fight for its global position.
