I have no foreign ancestors that I know of so I'm guessing the Balkan thing is from Romanian Vlach dna. They've assimilated into greek culture so much that basically no one calls themselves a Vlach anymore. South Italy was famously settled by greeks so that 7.8% could very well also be greek.

>>534696303I think they go by modern samples. If a dna sample appears in one country but is much more common in another it becomes associated with the latter. E.g. say you find a common dna sample in Asia minor but it appears to be much more common in the greek mainland, that sample will be considered greek. The south Italian dna may be considered italian now but it could really be a Greek strain from the distant past.
