Evne back in the days, independent newspapers were a thing. Although nowadays it's a lot harder to stay afloat without creating financial decencies everywhere (ad revenue, etc.).Although journalism has had it's high quality phases (even today, although in different form). A lot of recent history is only known because reporters figured it out or handled leaks or whatever. Even censorship in journalism is leaked through other journalists often times. Media always seemed more rehearsed and staged in the USA to be fair. Maybe things would've been different with a decently funded public counterpart to corporate media, which seems to be reporting on their own interests and nothing else. Pretty sure American media, broadcasting, regulations and differences between countries is an interesting topic to look into.(sorry, bit of a rant)
