I was a teenager and had prozac was pushed onto me. I spent 6 years on it, and I have virtually zero memories of that time. It's a complete dark blank spot. I don't know where it went. I got myself off of the drug somehow, I don't really know how or why, even getting off of it left weeks to months of blur. I was put on it for "social anxiety". I did not know of the effects, and I barely consented to it. This was a little over 15 years ago when I started it (I was 17 at the time). Lol these drugs are garbage. I’ve been on SSRIs continuously since 2018 until two weeks ago. My motivation is now higher. I exercise again. I have more motivation to work. I’m investing in stonks again. These drugs turn you into a zombie and keep you completely stuck. All you’re doing is making your depression or anxiety more tolerable via zombification. That isn’t treatment or a cure and more closely resembles the behavior of drug addicts than someone who is trying to beat depression. You know what actually worked for me? Prioritizing. Recognizing what is important and what is not. Realizing what I can control and what I cannot control. That’s literally it. So much depressive thinking can be neutralized by realizing how fucking retarded it is to dwell on things that suck but are beyond your control. You know what you CAN do? You can exercise, eat healthy, get good, regular sleep, work, and enjoy hobbies. Just because a lot of people are fat, lazy morons who refuse to get out of bed and go build towards something positive doesn’t mean we need to put everyone on psychiatric medication. If you’re in a psych hospital bed after a suicide attempt, sure. But you aren’t ever going to get better by shitting up your brain with SSRIs indefinitely.
