How come no one is buying home appliances anymore? What happened?
>>534763809Have you been outside? Have you ever left the 4chan anon?
They are just not from them
>>534763809Every appliance i buy breaks within two years and costs twice as much as the previous appliance.
>>534763809Everyone lives in a shitty closet apartment now. They make portable washing machines in 2026, they’re very convenient.
>>534763899What compels someone to come here and make posts like this? I'm really curious
>>534763809If people aren't buying new homes (because they are unaffordable) they will buy less appliances, or cheaper ones. If you already have a working appliance, why buy a new one?
>>534763948meanwhile my parents' drink fridge in the garage was made in 1978 and still works flawlessly. Only thing we had to fix was the seals started to go bad around 10 years ago so we added a latch to it so it stays shut.
We've had the same washer and dryer for about a decade, and if it ever breaks down we're just going to have it repaired because modern home appliances are absolute dogshit designed to break down after 3 years.
>>534763899You mean have I left /pol and visited /a? I refuse to answer without my attorney.
>>534763948I have all whirlpool appliances.I lament that my washing machine has a computer with Bluetooth(they all have the same board, even the simple dial ones), but it's been a good machine.Same with the dishwasher.Maybe this is a sign they're making machines too well, and loyal customers are still using them?True for myself.
Breaks within a year, has annoying smart home/ phone syncing account setup with features hidden until signing up. Why do I need a phone to have my dish washer do a quick dry on the dishes I clean by hand?
>>534763809its almost as if mass dieoff is happening but media doesnt talk about it
I bought this VERY EXPENSIVE kitchenaid dishwasher https://youtu.be/XJGCNZkDSjk?t=611and it broke in under two yearsnow I have a bosch but FUCK dude wtf, they make great mixers why did my dishwasher go to shit??????????
>>534763809repaired analog ones are just better and can last 100 years. It turns out that washing and drying clothes is a solved science and we don't need AI laundry machines.
>>534763809Top 10% drives 50% of all spending, that's poison for companies like whirlpool. Sucks to be poor but the economy is doing fine, it's a good thing that wealth is concerned on the elites so it actually gets spent.
>>534763948you're supposed to repair your appliances you fucking retard, not throw it out every time it breaksholy shit millenials are so fucking stupidHOLY FUCKING SHIT
>>534764085Oh that's what it is, I saw them recently on Amazon. Makes sense. It's a case of being unable to compete with... JYNA.
>>534763809People aren't buying homes as much as they used to, so they have less of a need to buy their own appliances.
>>534763809>How come no one is buying home appliances anymore? This anon is correct: >>534763899>Have you been outside? Have you ever left the 4chan anon?Economy has collapsed. There aren't any good jobs that a white male can get (not DEI, not nigger, not a woman etc.) where a white male can afford a house and bills.Salaries of everybody stagnated since boomers took over the gov.Inflation is too high. Taxes are too high. Chinese crap and planned obsolesce took over what used to be quality products . Consumer economy is caput.

Chinese crap , combined with spying and planned obsolesce , created a bunch of worthless appliances that would die in 2-3 years. >>534764517TBF I read in the news that Whirpool has been trying to make their devices as unfriendly for normies to repair as possible. They want to make money off repairs. Gotta love capitalism.

>>534763809BC everyone is fucking broke, that's why.
>>534763948I buy Maytag and repair them myself when they break. Do likewise and you’ll have appliances that run a long time.

>>534765116>>breaks in 2 years instead of 20-30 yearsYoure literally describing American brands lmao. At least the Chinese brands are 2x cheaper and repair friendly.
>>534763809Its cause they keep fucking breaking inside warranty so they are fucking all their profits with repairs/replacementsFucking idiots forgot that you have to make a working product
>>534764517Except it literally costs as much or more to fix them than it does to buy them new, and the Whirlpool fucking repair man will tell you the same thing.
>>534765159>Gotta love capitalism. When companies fail because of their bad decisions, I do love it
>>534765181Maytag and Whirlpool last 15 years easily. >should be really 20-30 years>if not for capitalist crap such as made up crap>that would inevitably break.
>>534763809Maybe they are and it is just that Whirlpool don't have the market they used to hence why their value is dropped. Porsche's profits went down 99%, doesn't mean no one is buying cars.
>>534765236upright fridges are utterly retarded to begin with, all the cold air falls out every time you open it. I want a chest fridge
>>534763809>whirlpoolThey could start by not producing garbage.
>>534765236Not all LG fridges are "smart fridges". Avoid buying that trash. I just bought an LG fridge a couple months ago for a new house I'm airbnb-ing. It has no WiFi or smart functions.
>>534763809Oddly, I bought a new dishwasher and clothes dryer in the past month.
>>534763809People are still buying appliances, just not Whirlpool ones. Samsung and other companies have gotten in on it.
Because everyone rents and landlords never buy new appliances, are you kidding me?
Because Samsung and LG ate their lunch. They make better products.Sure, 30-40 years ago Whirlpool and Maytag were good choices. But consumers just have better options now. It’s really that simple. It’s like asking why Atari doesn’t have the same market share these days.
>>534765325They will get a fat cheque from uncle Sam to keep fucking you over and to keep overpaying their Jewish CEO.
>>534764948By making all metallic components plastic and all plastic components thinner we save 30 cents per unit.
>>534764322The scam with Bosch is they invented a more energy efficient drying method and patented it and lobbied the E.U. to force energy standards nobody can meet except them and now they have the best dishwashers but if companies were allowed to sell more energy hungry models they'd be just as good and half the price.
>>534765393I know someone who bought a house with smart LG fridge. New one. Problems started maybe month 3. that local repair guys said they wouldn't fix, only LG techs etc. etc.Eventually he got some cash from a store to exchange a fridge for a different one, for a Whirlpool. A common story here.
>>534765467>Because Samsung and LG ate their lunch. They make better products.I wonder if americans get different products, here in europe they are among the worst as far as home appliances go.
>>534765617No, they're also shit here, that anon is just retarded. His Atari analogy also sucks because the modern console choices are also mostly shit.
>>534765617In general Americans are obsessed with features and Samsung and LG make the most flashy models.
>>534765783The only ones obsessed with all the new fancy bells and whistles are the manufacturers. Try buying a newly made strictly analog large appliance. You can’t.
because when your 20-year-old dryer stops working it's usually a belt you can replace.
>>534765940Where is it you can't?I can go to Lowe's or HD and buy whatever top load washer I want and have it go probably 20 yearsSame with fridges and shit. I can buy basic models all day.Where are you forced to buy the $3k LG or Samshit?
>>534765940you can buy them, but they are built very cheaply compared to older ones. I had to repair an "old style" new washer and dryer twice in less than a couple of years. all of the analog dials have plastic that breaks and the belts are super thin and fragile.
>>534765617>here in europe they are among the worst as far as home appliances goBecause in America they have vastly different regulations around energy and water use so the models they sell in America use tech from 1970 that just works. They try to comply with E.U. regulations and struggle and of course Bosch/Siemens/Miele and LG/Samsung crush them.
>>534766149They all have fancy microcontrollers to break prematurely as planned obsolescence. Show me one made in the past ten years that doesn’t. You can’t.
>>534765940>hmm people are buying our newest models faster. What changed?Well there's more features on them I guess>great! Cut the quality more and add more features Wow, people are buying them even sooner now. Some complaints about breaking early but...>Great! Add more features and cut quality moreSales are about the same but complaints are up more. Sir, we need to->No problem. Add even more features, include all the smart home and ai buzzwords. And to keep it affordable, I'll need the cheapest Chinesium you can findSir people aren't buying from us anymore >Well that's strange. The people love having more features, sales data shows it!
>>534765617They are shit here too. GE and whirlpool are better than the Korean slop.
>>534764619Thats because the posters on /tv/ are all pedos
>>534765617Europe still produces a lot of home appliances which tend to be higher quality than the Asian imports. There is still plenty of relatively cheap labor in Eastern and Southern Europe.Whereas in USA all labor is expensive, so I think they just don't have any choice but to import and for some reason they go for the really cheap Asian garbage instead of some mid tier from Romania or Italy.
>>534763809Appliances all went up in price thanks to daddy Trump's tarrifs. The model of water heater I bought in March 2025 is $100 more now.
Actually washing machines are never top loader in Europe and the biggest one they sell is a lot smaller than a U.S. standard washer. Cars, home appliances, energy costs - it's almost impossible to have a large family in Europe.
>>534764517It's impossible now. The capacitor blew on my thousand dollar name brand freezer 2 years after I got it. Problem is the capaciors were moved to a board that costs 1k to fix. Tech said he's seeing more and more like this now. Something that breaks every handful of years and used to cost 100 Inc labor now scraps the appliance
>>534764517Repairing my old washer would've cost 400 and that's if the first repair fixed it. A new one was about that much. Companies are doing this on purpose. My lint trap on my drier clogged because Samsungs shitty design and to fully access the lint trap and not the removable filter meant I had to take the front panel of my my drier entirely off. An on purpose decision to try and make home repair as difficult as possible.
>>534763809>not just going to your local scratch and dent storeSnagged a $2,000 French door fridge for $999 that way
>>534766458The tariffs are largely gone and yet manufacturers still keep their prices up. And demanding refunds too somehow.
>>534764171My washing machine is 34 years old and all it needed fixed in that time is the dogs which is a super easy fix and it needed done this year. Kenmore 70 series.
Electricity and modern living is poisonI hand wash everything and I feel fulfilledYou need a large basin for blankets and one of those strainers, but for smaller and lighter items you can easily do them by hands, and it makes you strongerModern living is actually slavery, you are still a slave just in a way that you think is convenient
>>534763809They don't make built to last products anymore. My Whirlpool washer broke off at the spindle that spins the drum in less than a year. And I barely do laundry more than twice a month. Pos company pos parts pos directions for how fix any of it.
>>534763809Well it certainly isn't because their products are more durable. So perhaps it is because people don't have money?
>>534766318My GE is digital and has been in use for 24 yearsI'm not one to have a picture of my washer but the digital component is clearly not the weak point
>>534763809>>534763948>>534764234>>534764322>How come no one is buying home appliances anymore? What happened? No one is buying *Whirlpool* appliances anymore. And the answer is jeets. All their tech is done by jeets, go look at their job board. And so of course their software quality dips, the appliances glitch occasionally pissing off the owner. Then the boomers in manufacturing retire and the hardware takes a serious nosedive. Now it glitches AND shit is guaranteed to break, you get stuck dealing with customer service which is also based in India, manufacturing is moved to Mexico to reduce costs because no one is buying and hardware quality drops further. Vicious cycle continues until the brand dies. But the problems started with letting jeets in.
>>534766640Growing up was when I realized companies don't actually engage in completion with each other in the way free market people like to think. Prices rise like a rocket and fall like a feather. If things were so competitive then prices would fall similarly fast, or reasonably fast. But they don't. Another reason free market ideas don't work is that goods and services aren't priced by what they actually cost. Price is decoupled from inputs now. A designer bag might be made with the same shitty leather as a store brand bag and the only difference is the logo or art style. At the grocery store pop tarts are like 5 dollars for a box of 8 and there's maybe 75 cents worth of food in them if we're being very generous. Same thing with potato chips. A 5 dollar big bag might only have 0.50 cents of ingredients in it. Prices and input costs don't relate to each other anymore. Baby formula too. It's powdered milk protein powder and a multivitamin all crushed up into a powder but it's priced like caviar
>>534764164My washing machine was made in 1993, I bought it used in 2004 for less than $20. Still works fine. Meanwhile new stuff breaks down in four years.
>>534763809My whirlpool microwave used to work with the door open. When I called customer service after getting concerned after a few months, you know when you want to stop the cycle so you open the door expecting it to stop and it doesn't, they immediately rushed a guy out. It took me a while to convince them that it was actually cooking with the door open>but that's impossible sir there's a mechanism to stop it doing that>Guy shows up>I show him>he goes pale as a ghost>it-it-its not supposed to be able to do thatNever again fuckin whirlpool>
>>534766737>show me one made in the past 10 years >here’s one that’s 24 years old Americans really are functionally illiterate huh?
>>534764948Survival bias. The vast majority of washing machines died in 10-15 years even "back in the good old days".Those few that last 40 years are extra heavy duty Miele machines made for professional 24/7 use but bought by some cat lady that only used it twice a month.Washing machines literally shake themselves apart, there is no way to make them last twice as long without making them three times as expensive.
>>534763809They are buying them from Korean companies. Adapt or go out of business.
>>534764271Does your dishwasher beep at you all night if you don't crack the door open after the cycle is finished? Whoever thought about putting a fucking high pitched incessant squeal on a dishwasher is a satanic piece of shit
>>534766932My point was that the microcontroller is not the problem.
>>534766898They accidentally sold you a military grade rf jammer.
You guys know you're allowed to just buy a Speed Queen right?
>>534767093Are there really dishwasher that do this?I've only owned dishwashers that can be kept closed, I think they have some condenser to get rid of the steam. And I know there are dishwashers that automatically crack open the door when they're done. But a dishwasher that beeps at you because it needs human intervention to finish its job? - that's insane.
I saw a youtube video about some amerishart who operated a laundromat thingiemabob, a foreign concept for us europoors, but I digress. What was intredasting is how this guy was hoarding some washing machines that predated a certain law about efficiency related to water usage where all the later products had a lot of breakage and parts needing to be replaced all the time and whatnot.
>>534764234>can afford high-end Whirlpool appliances with unnecessary tech features>didn't buy Speed Queen or Miele insteadWhy did you do this?
>>534766898>HOLY SHIT >THATS IMPOSSIBLE>THATS NEVER SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN>THIS IS LIKE THE THIRD COMING OF JESUS RIGHT HERE>PHYSISICISTS NEED TO STUDY THIS SHITLOL techs are all fucking retarded drama queens. Its like $5 mass produced Chineseium switches with zero QC. Yet when they fail, they will stand there like the 4th dimension is pouring out of it, defying the law of physics. Is it really that hard to believe some 8 year old chink slave fucked up? They all give off that low IQ redditor energy.

Because the boomers and China bought all the houses and then now rent them out, but they turned them into coin operated in-unit appliances and no one uses them and shitty third party services that collect the quarters and maintain them just make them work again for 6 months until they break down again. Because there is no incentive except consume.

So they buy a Chang brand washing machine and work it like it were a commercial Speed Queen costing 5x as much and bitch and moan because it doesn't hold up.Shit lasted longer generations ago in part because modern conveniences cost way more relative to food, shelter and wages than they do now, so people took care of them.

>>534771513The illustrious 3000 dollar washing machine from 1995 that my then in poverty parents most certainly purchased.I don't care that my "cheap" piece of shit that I bought 6 years ago breaks down, it's part of life. I care that replacement parts either don't exist or are so exorbitantly expensive it's not worth buying over a new model. The fucking agitator blade got broke off after my BiL chucked a mophead into the washer not knowing it was for agitator-less washers only; the base was $120 to replace for a small piece of ABS plastic.
>>534770745What's even more insulting is that local officials are bought off for Pennie's. They're no even becoming millionaires from corruption. Selling their soul for a stack of Denny's gift cards.
>>534771247I have three omnivisions. I have tried many other vcr's from thrift stores and these omnivisions are the most reliable and offer the best picture.
>>534772350Yep. Older folks get into city councils and will even sign nda's only to tell the community a data center is coming way too late. They're traitors.
>>534764519It's camping gear. Nowadays people are so broke the resort to camping gear as their regular appliances
>>534763809need to replace my fridge. is it a good fridge brand?
>>534770321It's probably not a state water regulation.California uses it's market share to force the rest of the country to live by ITS environmental standards. Companies don't want the hassle of having to make two versions of every product, so they make one version that qualifies for every state (especially California). The worst products affected are automobiles. The least affected are firearms. California's gun laws are so incredibly faggoty that most gun makers would rather NOT make a gun that is "legal" there, and just sell "normal" guns to the rest of the country.
Once upon a time when you bought a Whirlpool dishwasher it was a dishwasher designed and made by Whirlpool. Then over the decades they spun out all their in-house engineering and manufacture and became a hollow umbrella corporation for the often low-grade manufacturers they had acquired. All manufacturers did this a bit, but Whirlpool did it a lot, it's much more diversified. So Whirlpool can't be considered a reputable name, because if you buy a Whirlpool dishwasher it could be made anywhere by anyone. Whereas if you buy a Bosch, OK it could be made in Europe, the US, China or turkey, but it's made in a Bosch owned/operated factory and designed by Bosch engineers. So people buy Bosch, because they know they're getting a Bosch.
