Why on the topic of UBI does everyone just suddenly go full retard? If you just handed everyone a regular, predictable check to spend on consumer goods the cost of consumer goods would rise in line with the exact amount being provided and completely offset any benefit of UBI almost immediately. It’s literally a fucking pipe dream. You can subsidize essential industries, even provide a food or grain dole, but you cannot just give people no strings attached money without seeing inflation to offset.

So let's say the government unconditionally gives everyone $1000/month and 90% of people work, then an additional tax of ~$1111 (or ~$111 in real terms without $1000 UBIbux) per worker would balance things out. It's still kinda stupid when you can just do it in a less convoluted way via negative income tax or something. I don't think it's too different from NEETbux in Europe.
