>>534791322Hate the E.U so I wouldn't do that but would like to unify currencies as long as Canada would get it's relative portion of the ECB proceeds.

>>534792816Because I believe that regulating markets and blocking economic growth leads to sub-optimal outcomes. Everytime you block a transaction, or create friction, you stifle economic growth. A trade is only made when both parties benefit, it by its nature creates economic value.Tariffs mitigate trade.Transaction costs when exchanging currencies mitigate trade. The uncertainty of currency movements that forces international businesses and commercial enterprisers to hedge their currencies against potential fluctuations, acts as a drag on economic activity. An economic union between all three countries would mitigate that.
euro has been a disasterinflation everywhere it was imposedchanging currencies is ez pzy with banking machinesit will die along with the EU
>>534793160>euro has been a disasterIt was the best aspect of the E.U>inflation everywhere it was imposedIt brought down the inflation rate of the countries that adopted it, Spain, Italy, and Greece, used to have double digit inflation.and to the extent there's still some inflation, that can be solved with tighter monetary policy.>changing currencies is ez pzy with banking machinesThere's so many direct and indirect costs too that. Even if there were no direct currency conversion fees for retailers, there's lots of implied costs in the broker world which gets passed on. Broker dealers also have to buy at a spread when they do transactions.
>>534793160>inflation everywhere it was imposedAny data to back that up?As far as I know you have to have low inflation to even adopt the euro. I don't know of any country in the eurozone with double-digit inflation
>>534793472It would be almost impossible to have high inflation with the Euro since inflation is almost anywhere a monetary phenoemon and if the rate of Euro expansion is controlled by the ECB, and they keep it relatively under wraps, it would be hard for inflation to even occur.
