I think that when you interact with the world as if it's a big game of dominance and submission (very gay 2bqh kek) you tend to manifest conflict where cooperation might be a better long-term strategy. If everyone constantly defects, everyone spends all their energy constantly defecting, and any energy you spend on promoting and countering defection tends to be energy dumped into a black hole. It's swords instead of ploughshares. There is also something to be said about the kind of behaviors it normalizes. I believe that people never to anything in a vacuum -- that when you interact with someone, you do so as they are instantaneously expressing one point in a pattern of similar behaviors which are normal to them. If tribalism is the pattern... what happens when the tribe wins, but you still have all of those habitual behaviors you've been expressing? Even after total tribal victory, there will always be more tribes and more conflicts and less restraint because everyone is used to gay tribal dominance. My point is that tribalism is a poor strategy to interact with the world. You keep saying it's natural, and that's true, to an extent. But so is raping when you're horny, murdering when you're mad, stealing when you're hungry, etc. Where you see an immutable appeal to nature, I see a burr in a social framework.
