https://muropaketti.com/tietotekniikka/tietotekniikkauutiset/markkinoiden-epanormaali-tilanne-nakyy-nyt-emolevymyynnissa/All PC desktop motherboard manufacturers: ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and Asrock have said they are having about 20 to 40% drop in sales, in 2026.ASUS sold 15 million units in 2025. Thats 12 monts. Now, after 4 and half months of ongoing 2026, they have sold only 5 milion. How are they supposed to sell 10 million more until end of December?Everybody else has the same problem but numbers differ from ASUS. ASUS is the largest manufacturer and has been on the business for a long time, the first commercial product was a 386 motherboard on the year 1989.Its not as old as entire PC ecosystem however since there were PC manufacturers already in 1983.But ASUS was the first to offer end users their own build experience, without relying on complete PC sets that contain everything. Practically ASUS has invented the idea of buying separate components and creating your own PC, in Taiwan.
>>534814124>niggas have to go back to AM4>AM5 shits too expensive and nobody can afford DDR5
a popular Asus microboard for Ryzen CPU>AM4>4x DDR4 slots>DDR4 cheaper than DDR5>whole board less than 100 monies
>>534814124Every other main component's price skyrocketed. Then be surprised what happened. Also the younger generations are not assembling. They just want off-the-shelf product which ready to use. Also the mass does not want desktop pc.
>>534814446>Also the mass does not want desktop pc.yeah this is a big factor, everyone wants a laptop unless they need a gaming GPU>gamer laptops exist but they are very expensive
>>534814516They don't even want notebook.Younger generation's mind stick with the tablets and touchscreen "experience".They don't like the keyboard, don't even know how to use it.They want something to swipe instead of type. The work environments keep alive the notebooks.
>>534814622yeah, I'm 28, I cant know how exactly 16 year olds do stuff today
>>534814516Turning every case into a fishtank killed desktops. They used to be designed so that it was easy to transport them when moving places
>>534814124>They sold 15 million in 2025>They've already sold 5 million which is a third of 15 million in 4 months, which is also a third of 12What am I missing here? Sales are tracking to be the same

Because there's no reason to upgrade, CPU lifespan is long as fuck nowadays. My 5950x still isn't bottlenecked by anything and buying a new mobo means I'd have to buy new RAM too and I'm not paying €2100 for something that was €300 just few months ago.I'll only consider upgrading when the next gen CPU comes out and even then I'll see how the memory prices are.
>>534814124the ecosystem is fucked and anything that that is ssd, gpu or ram gets bought out to the point of people buying used laptops and prebuilts just to strip them out and resell

>>534814178>AM5 shits too expensive and nobody can afford DDR5The only game I'm aware of that seems to benefit from ddr5 offerings over ddr4 in a substantial way is star citizen and not many people play that. The 5800x3d is overkill for basically everything but niche sims. I don't understand why anyone would upgrade to am5 for gaming.

>>534814124honestly why would anyone especially with these high prices today even bother building a PC in 2026? its much more convenient to pay $50 a month and rent a high end gaming PC in the cloud for a couple of hours. on demand whenever you want 24/7 without needing to invest thousands into depreciating hardware. let the big boys do the heavy lifting and invest millions while you hang back and rent a PC from the comfort of your sofa whenever you want and only when you need it without it collecting dust on your carpet when you don't use it
>>534814178I'm still using ddr3. I don't gayming, so I don't see a reason to get anything better
You used to be able to build a functional gaming desktop for $500. It wouldn't be a monster but it could play most games at medium settings. Now you are having to pay $2000 for a gpu and $1000 for memory. What we have here is called "demand destruction."
>>534814124Gaming is gay anyway. Most of the popular games these days have graphics worse than we had 15 years ago.Made for 3rd world trash to be able to run on their jeet computers.
>>534814847In capitalism you grow or you die.
>>534814966>what the hell is that sayinformation technology/information technology news/abnormal market situation
>>534815187completely understandable to be frustrated but again you don't need to buy a PC when companies exist who will do it for you. why waste money when you use your pc maybe 2 hours every day to play a game or watch a movie? why drop 5k on something like that? the math doesn't add up especially when the future of gaming is cloud based anyway
>>534814124Good. Fuck women.I only use fatherboards. If you use gay shit like “mother” you are a fucking troon.
>>534815139your internet connection must be fucking insane. how do I get one like that? do shills get the best hook up now days?
I miss the Athlon XP days of the 00's. I would buy PC-Chips Mobos for dirt cheap and throw any cheap cpu in there with an included fan and it was always like 100 bucks 30 for the mobo 75-ish for a mid grade A_XP whatever speed. Slap in a nice vid card and you were gaming for well under 500 bucks. Things aren't like that anymore, shit's too expensive. I also miss brands like ECS mobos, they were good too.
>cloud based gaming>if you posted something spicy politically in 2010 your account is bannedsounds great
>>534814124I have an 18 year old supermicro computer that still works fine. Also, how can you build a new computer if you can't get ram?
>>534814124No way! You say overpriced shit is something most people dont buy?.....wtfuck...

>>534814751I agree i can't even get non glass paneled ones of the same design. Makes it a nightmare to move.
>>534815640>you will own nothing and be happy, goy!Ok, but motherboards still arent selling because no one wants to buy ram or gpusI built one of my gaming pcs in 2011. The other in 2019. Both still work great. Also, streaming games from a pc 3000 miles away is nigger behavior. Either you can afford to play it, or you can't. Cloud niggers jacked the price up.
>>534814124>15 million in 2025>5 million so far in 2026(4.5 months)>15 / 5 = 3>12(months) / 3 = 4(months)They are 0.5 months behind on their sales from 2025. Literally 2 weeks difference. 14 days. Thats basically just statistical noise. Im actually shocked its not waaaay worse with ram prices being what they are. You got duped by clickbait OP. This is literally a non issue. 14 day’s difference in sales from 2025 isn’t even worth changing strategy over, and very well might disappear entirely in another couple months
>>534814847Fearmongering but they should be afraid tho. Ddr5 is way too expensive right now and basically no reason to buy it if you don't want to overpay. We are also entering diminishing returns when it comes to pee cees.
>>534814124these are all the cascading effects from RAM price increases (supposedly due to AI)did someone seriously not expect that to happen as a consequence?
>>534814124asus has serious QC issues, I would never buy a product from them especially a motherboard
10 years ago it cost around 1700 to build a top of the line gaming pc.it now costs over 7000gaming is dead only the streamer cancer are left propping it up.I'm waiting for game developers to start charging streamers to stream because people just watch people who can afford to play now.
>>534815662Actually makes more sense since fathers carry the family on their backs.
>>534815563Sure but you don't know profit margin differences and it's far from the claim that sales are falling, stagnant would be more accurate
>>534814927My 960 survived 11 and a half years. My 3080ti is still going strong after 4 years.I've used pee cees with newer gpu gens and they don't really feel that different in quality of graphics or fps.
>>534815678i think i have made a good point. are you going to buy an industrial mower to mow your tiny lawn in your backyard. of course not. then why would you buy a PC for 5k to occasionally play some games. smart people understand its a bad business decision to throw away money like that which could be invested in smarter ways
>>534815958Low iq anon right here. 12/4.5 x 5 million = 13.4 million units projected for 2026. That’s a major loss in profits from the previous year.
>>534815187I miss those days...
>>534814966Phishing delivered by the best minds in China; probably has js to filter further words or phrases by the visitor.
Another factor compared to DDR2 days is that after DDR3 came out you really could get away with upgrading every other DDR generation instead of every 3 iterations for maxminal improvement. Main reason is that nothing but the GPU/Ram Storage is bottlenecked at this point. M2 speed is retarded fast. Mobos are finally acceptable for reliability. PSU's don't crap out after 5 years now you can get them running for 15 like the server grade ones can. I have 64GB of DDR5, 7950x CPU, a high end Asus Mobo, 1000 watt Seasonic Titanium PSU, 7900 XTX, and 8TB of M2. I was thinking of upgrading a full build whenever DDR7 comes out but by then would i really need the estimated 24 cores that DDR6 is going to have and likely 32 cores that DDR7 might have?Hell even shit box laptops have caught up from barely functional for windows to playing games roughly similar %30 less performance.
>>534816149>to filter AND logFixed.
Wtf I care about large corporations now
>>534816095no seriously, how the fuck do you have an internet connection that can stream games? like fuck do you live right next to a data centre or someshit? I would pay $7,000 a month for an internet connect that good
>>534816095agree, especially when you consider that mower can last a lifetime but the pc will be shit in an essentially predetermined amount of time.
>>534815891cloud gaming actually works perfectly fine. microsoft flight simulator 2024 one of the most popular games out there is a good example
>>534816073Gaming relies on under ages plus 20’ something. By the time you hit 30 you start buckling your belt and have more important things to do like sleeping early so you can recharge for work. And the money factor, you can spend that much money for a wedding or save for deposit on a condo. Besides that it takes 5 years for a aaa game to be made despite all the advancements in computer design automation.
>>534814992>I don't understand why anyone would upgrade to am5 for gaming. It's a good hold over for a couple of years, hell some people don't upgrade for 8 years and I'm hoping I can do that. The ram prices story got me spooked.
>>534814124If i need to spend that much on ram im just going to skip out on buying PC parts altogether until my current computer just can't keep up. Besides I'd have to migrate everything from windows to Linux as i am not getting windows 11 and that's a chore. Building a PC used to be fun, now it's expensive work.
>>534814178>nobody can afford DDR5As if ddr4 is affordable. It's price increased just as much. Even SSD and HDD (bloody hell) prices have increased.
>>534814124Fuck ASUS lmfao
>>534816095>InvestedI've seen 1K become 30K with a single investment. Whether people invest for the rest of their life or not, they can end up with more money than they need.So you're right that there are nice alternatives, but that's no reason other options and their providers shouldn't be called to improve their ways. Never mind the way cloud services can go down for long periods of time. I've had work matters interrupted by this before and got paid that day for basically doing nothing.
>>534816247fun fact and food for thought. the money you save on a PC can get you a nice mower which will enable you to start your own small business which will start to generate some income. there i have not only saved you some money but also showed you a way to make some all free of charge and a minute ago you might have done a big big mistake and dropped 5k on overpriced hardware. again people have to start thinking smart during times like these we have today

>>534817120I'm guessing they don't host servers within Australia itself?
>>534814124Well yeah. Storage, ram, and GPUs are ridiculously expensive right now. Whats the point of buying a new motherboard if you cant afford the components that go in it?
The RAM sticks I bought for £185 now cost over £500. It's 32GB of DDR5 RAMIf the RAM sticks are unaffordable then the mobos won't be bought, it's as shrimple as that. Getting a decent bunch of 64GB sticks goes for the same price as a 5080
>Destroy the prices of SSDs and Ram>Nobody has the need to start a new build so it fucks up the motherboard sales Who would have thunk
>>534814124Isn’t ASUS garbage?
>>534817168well China sure seems to want to supply the demand and deliver some competitive products to stir up the competition. for example in the profesional camera market you have big companies like Nikon, Canon and Sony and all they really do is spoon feed the consumer with innovation at a snails pace to drag out technological advancement as long as possible in order to continue making profit but China might soon start dropping some serious professional hardware which will give you the complete package simply to win you over. interesting times ahead for consumers

>>534814124Its because ram is to fucking expensive along with everything else. Think of it like a car. Imagine if tires were 3000 dollar a tire, and you still need to buy 4 of them for your car. Then you wonder why no one is buying cars to put the tires on them, because they cant fucking afford the tires to begin with.
>>534817174i guess with rising demand we will see some serious investments into the pc streaming game since PC's have become so expensive more people will want to switch to a monthly subscription and companies will have to deliver a smooth experience or lose customers since PC users when compared to console users are usually more tech savvy and very critical with a much lower tolerance for bs
