why was this the only one? i read about 60 interviews from the library of congress with former slaves (for some reason appears to be removed now) and only one slave reported seeing 'mistreatment'. the rest just said that they've heard about it. also, the runaway slave thing is a fucking myth. how tf would they even know where to go? from what i've read they basically just went into the woods for a week or two and the other slaves would bring them food and then they would eventually return once they got tired of sleeping in the woods. i did a massive summary of all the slave interviews, which i can provide if anyone wants, but it appears that the links are now broken. not sure if the LOC took down the interviews or something.
