WHY ARE DEMSISSIES SO INCOMPETENT

How about instead of just gerrymandering, we force politicians to compete on their ideas in competitive districts.

That's antisemitic

even if the competition is fair, the competitiors are diverse, and the voters are diverse, the media still cries foul when white people end up getting voted for.

>February 3, 2017

>Municipal governance in Saskatchewan’s four largest cities varies largely in shades of white male. Of the 37 council members of Moose Jaw, Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert none are visible minorities and just one is Métis.
>The lack of diversity in Regina following the fall elections is what frustrates Rhonda Rosenberg in particular.
>“It was interesting because the candidates were diverse,” says Rosenberg, the executive director of the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, “but that’s not who got elected.”

rosenbergs HATE fair contests
>>
>>534876437
Exactly.

This entire public discourse on gerrymandering never addresses the issue as a whole. Representation should be commiserate w\ the voter base. If you have 60% republican voters in a state and 40% democrats, you should have 6 repub seats and 4 democrats, and keep the ratio very close to that.

No state should have 60/40 voter base, but then 1 representative for 1 side, and 9 for the other. Another issue that's been pointed out is that it seems like in many dense population centers, the districts are drawn intentionally to have outlying areas stretch into the densely populated areas.
Then, if you have 90%/10% in that dense area, you can siphon votes off to smaller districts that would otherwise goto the other party. So you have people in Houston voting as if they're in a outlying country, and affecting elections that way.

tf? are you a time traveler from last month? most prediction markets and pollsters are now saying the GOP will pick up 25+ seats
>>
The problem with the Republican gerrymandering is that they're not actually getting more votes, they're just spreading out what they already have.
They could potentially get more seats, yes, but their margins are also much slimmer.

The winner of every election is always "didn't vote," so if Trump pisses that group off enough to get them to the polls, because no way are the Democrats mobilizing them, it is very possible Republicans will lose even worse than they otherwise would have.
>>
>>534876830
>Another issue that's been pointed out is that it seems like in many dense population centers, the districts are drawn intentionally to have outlying areas stretch into the densely populated areas.
look at places like CT where we had the democrats change things around so that there's a big city in each county, what used to be a solid republican state has only voted democrat since this change
they make up whatever vote shortfalls needed in the cities
the most egregious example was the 2010 governor's race that saw the voting day close with the R guy having a ~7000 vote lead
next morning, bags containing 15,000 votes were found in bridgeport,
giving the democrat a 2000 vote victory

Generic Ballot is D+10.
Republicans should have done the redistricting from day 1 when Trump got into office. They should have also prevented illegals from being counted in the census for reapportionment, that's 20 dem seats gone if they had.
Republicans aren't serious people, you can show them how to win, like redistrict and reapportion, and tell them what NOT to do, like start a war for Israel, and they'll still do the exact opposite and believe themselves as graceful LOSERS.
As it stands, redistricting is just damage mitigation. They're still going to lose 20+ house seats, but at the very least it's not as dire if they get a nutsack and actually try to win for just once.
The senate majority is also fucked, not that republicans did anything with it. They're useless, captured, weak idiots.

Besides, do the Republicans REALLY want to take the full responsibility of the shit show of an economy, war, and now potential pandemic? If 2027 comes around the average American is masked up, broke, paying $6 a gallon because of a war 100% backed by the GOP those slim margins are going to wildly shift the elections back to the Democrats in 2028. The midterms are the chance for this diaper full of shit to start leaking on the Democrat's watch, there won't be a "Well the Democrats keep blocking us!" excuse to fall back on. The ship will be 100% steered by the GOP straight into an iceberg.

>Republicans aren't serious people, you can show them how to win, like redistrict and reapportion, and tell them what NOT to do, like start a war for Israel,
They’re perfectly serious. You just do not understand their true motives. They don’t give a shit about winning or losing after they’ve gotten into office and made useful connections. Their only concern at that point is to please their kike masters for kickbacks like do-nothing lobbying jobs and seats on fully captured regulatory bodies where they can easily make millions in bribes. Do not make the mistake of believing they truly give a shit about whatever bullshit political speeches they give to the public. They don’t actually care to protect the poors from being surrounded by brown people and they don’t actually care if faggots are allowed to get married.

The party in power always loses midterms. That’s been the case forever. Dems SHOULD win and the fact it’s this close is terrible for them.

If Reps win 3-4 of the toss up races they win the house. That’s very doable.
>>
>>534881524
only if republicans show up to vote

they'll never vote democrat, but overall turnout among republicans has been anemic in the most recent primaries and special elections. if i were a republican (which i'm not because i'm sane), i wouldn't be proud to vote for anyone in my party right now because they're simply not the responsible choice. i would just stay home because Trump is a fucking idiot and anyone who enables him is arguably even worse.

calling them democraps like it's clever is very telling about your aptitude

in any case, people are actually totally fine with state taxes if they actually pay for things that they care about like education, infrastructure, and housing. federal taxes are the problem because republicans insist on funneling as much coal into the military engine as they possibly can, which really only benefits weapons manufacturers (and the money goes nowhere when you can't even get young men to sign up anymore after convincing them that college isn't a worthwhile pursuit, which is one of the biggest reasons people even bother to join anymore besides expediting immigration status)

Dems have no one for the 2028 ticket. Rubio or Vance beat Harris easily. The 2030 census is going to shift another 10-15 seats and EC votes to red states. They have potential to keep control for another 8-10 years if they hold on to 2026. Why wouldn’t they want to win now?

> Though, I kind of actually hope they win the governorship of Ohio
You really should. I hope that bitch wins, and I can’t believe I’m saying I want a Democrat female to win. They republicans should control the state senate and house which makes her mostly toothless. Vivek would do more damage, she can be mitigated.

Primaries sure, special elections no. What has been a contested special election that mattered? There aren’t any.

Republicans are predicted at 209 right now, at 3 from LA, SC, and AL redistricting. That leaves them with 6 of 19 toss ups to win. They only need good turnout in a few states/districts. Iowa for example should be at least one with Zach Nunn. They might get both of the toss ups.
