I’m trying to learn about real Christianity with an open mind after being raised in a spiritually dead non-denominational church. Looking at Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. I’m trying not to get caught up in how “based” or “tradpilled” something is, I’m seeking truth. But I also realize there’s a lot I don’t know.Concerning the Roman Catholic Church’s claim as the one true church, it seems flawed. I know a lot of catholics are on /pol/ so I’m hoping somebody can help me understand what I’m misunderstanding.The RCC claims to be the only true Church, yet it also, as of Vatican II, declares there is salvation outside of the Church and that non-Catholics can be saved. Logically, that would mean it isn’t the one true Church.I often see the claim that the Church was corrupted at Vatican II and that Vatican II is a false teaching, and that the RCC is still the one true Church. But if that’s the case, it means the one true Church succumbed to false teachings and cannot logically be the one true Church.In other words:>If Vatican II is believed, the RCC logically is not the only true Church.>If Vatican II is not believed, the RCC was successfully co-opted and logically cannot be the one true Church.With this in mind, EO seems to have a stronger argument. But, as I said, I grew up in a terrible church that taught me nothing valuable except for the bare basics of Christianity, and I imagine my understanding is flawed. >>534880552V2 is massively misunderstood in this context - the “salvation outside of the Church” is in reference to the fact that ultimately Gods will is unknown such that He could, for some reason outside our sphere of understanding, determine that someone should receive His mercy and be accepted into his Kingdom. However, the most surefire way to receive this mercy and salvation is by being in visible communion with God by keeping his sacraments which are only licitly offered through the universal Catholic Church.

>>534880552The orthadoxy is the original. The "Roman Catholic church" was originally in eastern rome and practiced by Greek speaking folk in Constantinople. It spread to western rome and the Vatican who then began changing things, which caused the OG eastern rome to break off and form the orthadoxy.
