It was obvious when politicians, entertainers and „elites“ got caught not giving a single fuck about the social distancing they demanded everyone to do. Why should they release something if they just need to change regulations so every suicide, car crash and every old boomer that had a positive just got labeled a coofdeath. Flu deaths magically disappeared and late stage cancer patients got labeled covid deaths. All they needed to do was change the regulations so every positive pcr test was enough to make it a covid death. Thats much less of a hassle than releasing an actual virus which might mutate and in the end will target them too. Its not even that every doctor had to be involved. It just needed high ups to chamge the regulations. Now i am of the opinion that a lot of people working im the medical field have no clue abojt their profession and thus if some actual deadly virus goes around have zero fucking clue how to handle it. Just remember the dancing doctor videos and crazyness that happened in 2020 - 2022

Yes but viruses tend to mutate after the Nth generation. We are now at generation 3 and the Andes variant never got this far in the past because it was always some rural village outbreak where they could enforce isolation and shut it down.

Remember Covid didn't mutate either until it escaped Wuhan then it became the Alpha variant

>>534952135

We are not at Generation 3. The latest genomic sequencing confirmed all current cases are 100% identical, meaning this is strictly a Generation 1 cluster from a single Index Case.

The COVID-19 analogy doesn't work mathematically. Viral mutations are a statistical numbers game. COVID didn't mutate into Alpha until it had infected millions of people, giving it millions of chances to roll a 'jackpot' mutation. This Hantavirus cluster has 11 people. It simply doesn't have the host volume required to mutate its transmission mechanism.

Andes has reached Gen 3 and Gen 4 before. The 2018 outbreak in Argentina had 34 cases across multiple chains of transmission. It never mutated into a super-bug; it remained genetically stable and naturally burned out because it is highly inefficient at human-to-human spread.

My Dr Clown, PhD calculations are that everybody on the ship from Apr 21 - May 1 almost certainly got pozzed. There was just too many contagious ppl walking around pozzing the entire boat during this period and they didn't start any cabin lockdowns until May 2 when the ship was notified of Hantavirus positive test of the dead wife and the German pax died that day too.

Patient zero pozzed 7 ppl in just a few days then we have 6 on the boat all at once super pozzing from all directions as one guy left Apr 12 to pozz that tiny island where they parachuted in med equip

It's just too early to tell if this is going to be a disaster or a nothing burger. Incubation period is creepy long.

Also the virus is a single strand RNA virus that's negative sense. It's going to be more conservative and mutate less, comparably, to positive sense rna viruses.

Meaning a vaccine would like stop the disease cold.

So guys I'm going to start doing a bit of prepping wrt treatments. Assume a situation where you have no access to medical care and become infected. What vitamins or widely available drugs would you be taking, preferably ones that don't require a prescription.

Previously I've heard the idea of super high vitamin C doses multiple times per day, which just in general seems reasonable since you can't overdose on Vit C and it tends to help with cold and flu symptoms.

Any other ideas? Just a brainstorm.

You're basically fucked if you get the disease without access to medical care and it becomes serious. Hypothetically you could ask for diphenhydramine or Famotidine and hope that helps some. But either way without ECMO protocol you can start to have capillary leakage in lungs, which fill with fluid, and then you drown as your heart and lungs struggle to function

I think my death impulse has gradually become stronger as i realized life is devoid of meaning and morality

Anyway, it's a nothing burger, R0 is under 1 which means pandemic contagion is very unlikely even impossible
>>
Am I crazy for thinking that it might be better to catch this sooner rather than later? Chickenpox party style. The danger with pandemics is resources being stretched thin and yeah I know this is a retarded rationalisation with a 30% mortality rate even with treatment but that mortality rate is going to be pretty much 100 once the medical system crashes. I need to relax.

Please don't take it as a sleeping aid. Diphenhydramine crosses the blood brain barrier which over time affects the brain even with reasonable doses. Regular use within safe dosage limits, if often enough, is linked to higher risks of dementia.

If you need a sleep aid please just try and score a real sleep aid.

Gen 1 is patient 0.
Gen 2 is 7 infected by patient 0
Gen 3 is 4 infected by Gen 2 so far because has only been 20 days.
Gen 4 is whoever got pozzed last few days because Gen 3 became infectious now and not all are 'self isolating'.

The 2018 outbreak:
Patient 0 attends party with 100 ppl for just 90 minutes. 5 ppl sitting near him are pozzed and 1 guy he said hello to in the bathroom.
Gen 2 infections start pozzing 17-24 days later mostly at the funeral for patient 0.
Gen 2 start dying and strict lockdown of the village happens which reduces Gen 3 pozzing anyone to only a few spouses and outbreak is stopped. Notice STRICT as not 'self isolation voluntary'

>Gen 1 is patient 0
wrong. Patient 0 is the Index Case. Gen 1 is the people they infect. Learn basic epidemiology moron.

>Gen 3 is 4 infected by Gen 2
literal fanfiction. The official sequencing update literally just said we are still in the Gen 1 window until May 19th. All 4 sequenced cases are genetically identical to the Index Case. You are making up numbers to stay mad.

>not all are 'self isolating'
So far they are being held by the UNMC National Quarantine Center. That’s the federal biocontainment unit they use for Ebola, not a voluntary honor-system lockdown in a Holiday Inn. 4 people with probable contact are allowed to self quarantine, however they were not in the cruise ship.

>Patient 0 attends party... 1 guy he said hello to in the bathroom
The 2018 Epuyén party was a crowded, poorly ventilated room where people were sharing drinks, cheek-kissing, and breathing on each other for hours. It’s the literal definition of close bodily contact.

Stop projecting your doomsday fetish onto a locked-down cluster of 11 people.

It was better than what the authorities advised
- you have to report to authorities
- they will send you letters with lots of rules and threat of punishment
- you have to stand in line outside for hours in the freezing cold to get tested
We skipped all that unpleasant stuff and it certainly helped.
It was before the vaccine was even available, and nobody gave you advice on what to do to help you heal. Figured it out by extrapolating grandma's advice from when I got the flu as a child.

Good info thanks fren.

- vitamin C ( high doses)
- Zinc supplement
- Vitamin D3 supplement (high doses)
- Lots of Elderberry tea

I'm going to throw in echinacea. I used to take tons of this whenever I felt a cold coming on. It doesn't stop the cold but does control the symptoms and you recover a bit earlier. Start taking the moment you feeling symptoms coming on, and Just just taking big doses multiple times per day until the illness is completely gone.

My oblig prep post at the ready - light on the drugs but open to incorporating suggestions.

>IMMEDIATE: Avoid public loos (aerosols). Sanitise/wash hands, mask on flights. Start stocking.

Masks
>P3/N95. Reusable 3M 6000 series are good - buy genuine filters, fall back to Chinese copies later. Nitriles, goggles, disposables for others optional. Don't trust "use surgical masks protect others" — this thing has 40% fucking mortality, get a P3.

Drugs
>Ibuprofen, first aid kit.

Food
>Nissin, Shin, Prima Laksa noodles are thread favourites. Nuts, cereals, protein bars, bottled water, polish sausages, instant mash, rice, oats, dried fruit, tins, SPICES. Focus on no-cook and non-freeze. 500g peanut butter = 3 days of calories. Buy seeds and plant some now.

Water
>Have a storage method (bin bags + pillowcases). Filter with hollow fibre, boiling, or 8 drops bleach per gallon.

Toilet paper
>Sandpaper or leaves.

Lighting and heat
>Wind-up radio/torch, oil lamps, candles. Multiple fire starters (ferro, lighter, matches). Winter clothing.

Comfort
>Booze, TENGA cups, cigs, chocolate, books, instruments.

Literature and Media
>Charity-shop books (textbooks + fiction). Farsi word for "download" is handy for films.
>Fun: Decameron, The Plague, Canterbury Tales, La Bas, Masque of the Red Death.
>Informative: Nuclear Survival Handbook, SAS Survival Handbook, $50 and Up Underground House Book, foraging guides for your local, OS maps or equiv.

Hunting and protection
>Snares, fishing rods. If anyone suggests guns they get the Big Stick.

Physical security
>Be where you want to lock down and befriend your neighbours.

Finances
>Get them solid if you can and prep for inflation and minimal spending. For now outwit panic buyers. Maybe write a will/buy Moderna.

Living situation
>Shitty office job = free money. Identify your triggers (eg. non-ship pozz) and plan around lockdown/riots.

>One type is hemmoraghic but not the Andes strain, it is respiratory causing death like pneumonia does
The Andes strain is hemmoraghic as well. All Hanta strains cause blod clotting, which is what leads to irregularities in blood pressure and eventually when capillary veins become worn too much causes overpressurization to rupture them. That is- if you don't roll snake eyes and get yourself a heart attack before that.

The Andes strain centers on the respiratory tract, and causes major damage to the capillary veins in your lungs' alveoli which is what causes the respiratory problems: your lungs literally no longer have working capillary veins to feed oxygen into to bind to your red blood cells for transportation - and while that's going on you are bleeding out into your own lungs.

Schizo theory:

On cruises like this, protocol is that all folks must undergo biosecurity before landing in South Georgia. That involves a vacuum station, where guests use standard vacuum cleaners to clean their outdoor clothing of seeds. So all passengers are hanging around a free vacuum cleaners in an enclosed space vacuuming their outdoors gear.

My suspicion is somebody brushed their outdoors shoe soles containing dried rodent faeces and urine, at which time the virus went airborne. The dust was hovered up and then distributed through that enclosed biosecurity station, where others also cleaned. At that point anyone close by would be exposed. Using that vacuum later has the possibility to further distribute airborne particles containing the virus.

This is the most likely explanation why so many folks test positive. Other explanations are more complicated (mutation or swingers). If it’s mutated we’d see more folks in Argentinia test positive. If it’s swingers we know.

If the vacuum/biosecurity station theory is true, we should see nobody who wasn’t on the cruise be infected (which I understand is true currently), and also, they should test the content of their vacuums.

>>534953332
There isn't any deciding factor that anyone has been able to discern. It comes down to dumb luck.
You can thoroughly stack the deck against yourself though, by eating a lot of stuff aimed at strengthening your immune system. Because Hanta is one tough cookie and doesn't give up, eventually leading to your body invoking a cytokine storm as a last ditch effort, and basically your own immune system ends up killing you if your immuno-response is too strong.

On the other hand, if you don't end up killing yourself that way - then Hanta still wins because it will rupture all the capillary veins of your alveoli leaving you without means to transfer oxygen from inhaled air into your bloodstream and choking you. (While it literally drowns your lungs in your own blood for the double whammy.)

Unironically, and please good lord don't take this as medical advice - one of the only things you could probably do with off-the-shelf foodstuffs to slow it down ... is booze. Alcohol forces your veins to stand open wider, and has a minimal effect in thinning your blood and if your blood is clotting, helping prevent and jamming that can cause pressure irregularities and capillary bursts.
That said- VERY BAD IDEA.

Oh lol, someone questioned this last time I posted but I was about to head to bed. It's from Nuclear Survival Skills, given as a ready way to store shitloads of water - you put the binbag in the pillow case, fill and tie it with string. The pillow case stops the sides bursting and can quickly draw 5 gallons or so of water from the mains if there are signs supply is ending. Useful if you don't have a bath.

>Polyethylene trash bags make practical expedient water containers when used as waterproof liners inside smaller fabric bags or pillowcases. (Plastic bags labeled a& being treated with insecticides or odor-controlling chemicals should not be used.) Figure 8.1 shows a teenage boy carrying over 10 gallons (more than 80 pounds) of water, well balanced front and back for efficient packing. Each of his two burlap bags is lined with two 20-gallon polyethylene trash bags, one inside the other. (To avoid possible pinhole leakage it is best to put one waterproof bag inside another.)

>To avoid possible pinhole leakage it is best to put one waterproof bag inside another
It's actually better to layer them inside-to-out as platic-cloth-plastic-cloth. The cloth sandwiched between the plastic bags acts as a stopper: it will get drenched and saturated at the location of the pinhole puncture, but then will start acting as a seal with minimal further seapage. With directly layering two layers of plastic against one another, you still have risk of pressure equilibrium occuring and the inner plastic bag beginning to drift freely, allowing the water to reach another pinhole in the outer plastic bag and achieving a full leak.

You know, with the Hantaviruses, I think you have to look at it like it's ultimately going to spread through the population because why wouldn't it? Why would there be a time when Hantavirus doesn't spread? I mean, look at how the population spread through the population with the Coronavirus.

I don't mean to be rude, but people don't really want to admit it. It's the ultimate scenario we're currently in, and nobody has a real answer. I think the truth is that it's going to be like the current situation with a much deadlier virus. It's going to be much more stressful because you're going to be stressed for eight weeks.

- Type: Multiple sequence alignment visualization comparing viral genomes.
- Content: Rows are sequence IDs; columns are nucleotide positions (1–~6,561). Red marks indicate mismatches; gray indicates conserved regions. Right‑side columns show Date, Identity %, and Mismatches per sequence.
- Highlighted comparison: A new Swiss patient sequence is shown against 2018 Argentina outbreak sequences (highlighted at the bottom).
- Key observations: The Swiss sequence and the 2018 Argentina sequences share high identity and low mismatch counts; variation is concentrated in specific regions (red peaks).
- Implication: The alignment indicates close genetic similarity between the Swiss sample and the 2018 Argentina outbreak sequences, consistent with a recent common origin or direct linkage.

The image quite clearly shows that it should not be just magically in Switzerland like this. it's very clear that it is mutated

now whether this is something to do with it being much more dangerous or it's just gain a function research or its natural genetic drift we don't know

by the way, please stop saying AI slop you got that from like the fucking mainstream media. it sounds so corny slop goy slop they took it from goyslop to take away goyslop

>Hantaviruses: Take care during spring cleaning
>Anyone who is already looking forward to finally tidying up their shed or garden gazebo after the long and dark winter months and is motivated to grab a broom for spring cleaning should not ignore the consequences of the winter visit of the small, cute bank vole.
>Viruses are transmitted through the excrement of infected rodents.
The rodent, which is widespread in the local animal world, can – like other mouse and rat species – excrete hantaviruses in its feces and urine, informs the health department of the Rhein-Neckar district, which is also responsible for the city of Heidelberg.
>These pathogens have the ability to survive on dusty surfaces for extended periods while maintaining their infectivity. The viruses can be inhaled unnoticed, particularly through dust stirred up during sweeping or cleaning work in stables or sheds, when beating upholstery or carpets, or during woodworking or tidying work in cellars or attics. In 2025, a total of eight cases were reported to the public health department for the Rhein-Neckar district and the city of Heidelberg. In the state of Baden-Württemberg, the number of reported hantavirus infections in the first ten weeks of this year already amounts to eleven.

My immune system is fucked anyway, I've got multiple sclerosis kek
>>
>>534956604
>The illnesses usually have a mild course.
>Most hantavirus infections are mild and therefore often go undetected. However, flu-like symptoms such as high fever, headache, body aches, and cough can sometimes occur, frequently accompanied by nausea and vomiting. These symptoms usually subside on their own after two to three days. In rare cases, an infection can lead to impaired kidney function or even acute kidney failure, which may necessitate temporary dialysis treatment. Unfortunately, there is currently no specific therapy or vaccine available for hantaviruses; therefore, treatment focuses primarily on alleviating symptoms.
>Do not inhale dust.
>“If you can’t prevent an illness through vaccination, it’s all the more important to be informed and take appropriate precautions,” explains Dr. Anne Kühn, head of the public health department. “When working in your garden shed or basement, wear a face mask, ideally an FFP2 mask. Dampen dusty surfaces with water before you start working and avoid using a vacuum cleaner to prevent stirring up dust.” The less dust you inhale, the lower the risk of infection. “And when you’re finished, be sure to change your clothes and remove the dust from your skin and hair in the shower before bringing it into the living room,” advises the doctor.

Even worse the wife had to incubate and wouldn't have been contagious until 17-24 days later after infection. That was around Apr 21 - 24 and passengers said the wife looked fine when she left the ship and that's when they probably hugged her as she was leaving and fully contagious.

Ventilators won't do shit. Andes Hanta attacks the capillary veins of the alveoli and destroys your abilty to intake oxygen into the bloodstream in ways Covid-19 could never. Ventilator-assisted breathing doesn't fix this. Instead you need something that can directly feed oxygen into the blood to bind it to your red bloodcells, replacing your lung function entirely. That something is called Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation, or ECMO for short.

>Hantavirus Outbreak Sparks Hoax Claims Over Hebrew Slang
>The Hebrew word חַנְטָה (chanta or hanta) is a slang term that can mean "nonsense," "rubbish," or "a scam." It is sometimes used informally to dismiss something as false or trivial. More accurately, chanta (חַנְטָה) is derived from the Hebrew root ḥ-n-ṭ, which relates to embalming or preservation (e.g., of food or mummies).

funny how these kind of coincidences cling to them and follow them around like some sort of curse
>>
>>534956712
Nah. it's true.
Authorities here always are advising about local reservoirs of hantavirus in mice. Low double-digits number of infections reported each year, severe cases are extremely rare, no human to human transmission. That's why the main focus is advice on avoiding exposure to mice feces.

Oh, and btw. ECMO is not without complications by itself. In practically all cases that require it, the consequences are all kinds of nasty lasting afflications throughout the capillary veins in your body, since it basically is unregulated pressure pumping that is not self-regulatable by the body. It is known to cause intracerebral hemmorrhaging, ischemic infarctions and more around the brain, all causing lasting neurological disorders.

And the major complication is that succesful use of ECMO without lasting damage requires meticulous management of blood platelet levels, to prevent clotting.
So- guess what Hanta does? Yes- it causes unpredictible erratic clotting.

All the new boat cases are a nothing burger and obvious, the ones everyone really needs to be watching are those flight contacts.

If they start testing positive it basically confirms that the dead coofer woman was actually a virus geyser, unlike what they want us to believe right now, and this is completely out of control.
>>
>>534957154
also if this actually becomes even sorta wide spread, how many ecmo machines does an average hospital have 1? 5?
I can basically guarantee that if this becomes widespread hospitals will basically have to just shrug and let people die.
>>
>>534957246
Sure. I was skeptical at first, now I guess it's real but I don't see how it changes anything we do, ultimately.

This image displays a Multiple Sequence Alignment (MSA) of genetic data, visualized using a tool like NCBI’s Genome Workbench or a similar sequence alignment viewer.
What the Data Shows
Alignment Comparison: The top sequence (PZ385161.1) serves as the “anchor” or reference sequence (indicated at the bottom left). All other sequences are compared against it to identify differences.
Variations: The vertical red lines represent point mutations or single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) where the base in the query sequence differs from the reference (PZ385161.1).
Sequence Grouping: The tabular data on the right provides sequence identifiers, dates, identity percentages, and the count of mismatches.
High Similarity Cluster: The top 30+ sequences (starting with the “MN” prefix) show very high identity (94-98%) to the reference. These appear to be closely related strains or isolates.
Low Similarity Cluster: The bottom group (starting with “PP” and “OQ” prefixes) shows significantly lower identity (~79-80%) and a massive increase in the number of vertical red lines (mismatches), indicating they are much more genetically divergent from the anchor.

It’s because we don’t keep level 4 beds just chilling.
Each nation has only a few level 4 facilities. As each one fills they have to move them to the other ones.
Keep in mind, level 4 beds are expensive to maintain and a drain on resources unless used.
So unless something like this happens they won’t be used for anything except maybe storage.
