China simply does not chimp out like everybody else seems to be doing these days. Honestly, Xi appears to be one of the few sane world leaders right now, not making an ass of himself every week or so for no reason at all. Who could have thought that trading and investing would be a better strategy compared to waging wars and stirring conflicts for no good reason at all. Well, apparently this concept is rather hard to grasp for most in the XXI century and they simply never learn. Against this background China has a rather easy task really - just be normal, continue producing and selling stuff and they got this in the beg. For all the talk about them trying to violently reintegrate Taiwan into the country, I do not think they are contemplating doing it that way. It’s a very Western kind of thinking, where everything has to be achieved as soon as possible for big headlines and personal glory of the current buffoon in charge. China plans for the long-term. They can wait for years, decades, centuries even if needed. That's the difference between an ancient civilization and a young one - the former sees the bigger picture and plans accordingly. They waited a hundred years to take Hong Kong back; there is no rush with Taiwan either.

>>535025271We don't.The oligarchs make money more dealing with Beijing than American companies because they've spent the past decades giving Beijing all of their factories for the sake of cheaper labor to squeeze slightly higher profits. Now it's backfired and Beijing has them cornered with vastly superior logistics chains while American industries atrophied to the point of dependency. They created their own problem, a competitor they can't beat and they have no choice but servitude or oblivion. Now the oligarchs that fund our corrupt politicians are telling them to get in line and bow to Beijing or else they're getting kicked out next election cycle.
Because China's soft power is working. If they can get $20k EVs on the road here, the American auto makers are toast.
