Right off the bat, we're basically 70 percent of the UN's military ourselves, and just last year as taxpayers spent $980 billion on Europe's defense alone. It would take them years, if not decades to catch up. Also, we control basically every waterway and trade route. If you think the Strait of Hormuz situation is bad, we could shut off the entirety of world trade tomorrow without breaking a sweat. We've got fleets and hidden subs all over the place at all times. Not to mention bases everywhere. There's also the fact that if the US were to ever actually collapse for real, it's economy is basically a built-in dead man switch, and would take the rest of the world with it. If it came to nukes, we've got more than everyone else, aside from maybe Russia, and that's an instant "everyone dies" button.
