>actually Presidents do control the economy....oops!
>>
>>535075812
Not an expert but his research and academic education give him more credentials than any of you retarded /his/ posters
>>
>>535075813
>appeal from authority
I have a better education and a more important degree than him or you. What now?
>>
>>535075814
>Retard can't even say "Appeal to authority"
>>
>>535075815
Good try avoiding the point, but regardless, my education and degree are guaranteed better than whatever you have. So, it’s appeal from authority and there’s nothing you can say about it.
>>
>>535075816
I'm not OP plus you don't magically get an "important degree" just because you said you do
>>
Of course people with power control the economy.
It's not total control, but the more powerful an individual is, the more control they have over the economy as a direct consequence of that power. That's what power is, it's control.
The only people who believed the state arises from the economy are deluded Marxists. Most leftists balk at the bourgeoisie primacy found within that profound mental retardation.
>>
>>535075817
And have you ever laid eyes on Mr. Beat’s degree? No? Then it’s as good as me saying I have a really important degree, and you need to just listen to me. I have a doctorate btw, but it really shouldn’t matter. The content of what I say or argue should matter. That’s what I’m trying to get at. Mr. Beat says he has an academic background? He can still be wrong and someone with no education can be right.

Why do moderate libshits like this guy act like the president has no control over the economy? The fuck?
>president brokers a trade deal with X middle eastern country to increase oil imports
>oil supply increases, prices decrease
This is an example of the president having an effect on the economy.
>>
>>535075820
It was damage control for Biden. It wasn't paid shilling though, their worldview is wonkish, blind trust in institutions and procedure even in the face of overwhelming evidence that the entire project is collapsing.
>>

>Presidents do control****** the economy

Dependent on how much they control the Judicial and legislative branches. Presidents don't legally have extensive controls over the economy or things that could directly impact the economy by themselves. But when none of the checks on their power are willing to do anything to actually stop them? They might as well have.
>>
There is a difference between exogenous and endogenous shocks to the economy. Stuff like COVID can cause shocks to the economy that a president can't control. Causing shocks with increases in tariffs or causing a war that shuts down the Strait of Hormuz is something within the president's control.
>>
>>535075823
Nominally, the caveat again is how much control he has over the other two branches. If either or both were decidedly against the executive they'd stop or strike down any action they deemed too radical very quickly.

The president *wishes* he controlled the economy
>>
>>535075819
>Mr. Beat’s degree
Is that a euphemism for his BWC?
>>
>>535075820
It seems to be a common trope among the NPR set. I've witnessed it in real time.
>>
>>535075812
Control is way too strong a word, but influence works.
It's less cammands being obeyed and more waves pushing their surroundings.
>>
>>535075820
>>535075821
>>535075827
The President does have control, but basically only one way.
A President cannot force an economy to be successful. But a President can make an economy worse.
>>
How is this thread /his/?
>>
>>535075830
Now it ain't
>>
>>535075812
>control
stop being stupid, it would be more correct to say they "influence" the economy, or can if they want to, if they are hands off then no they have minimal influence on it
>>
>>535075812
Fuck this guy is ugly!

Who the fuck takes what an ugly person says seriously?
