Local ethnic Maledive man took them by a boat to the region where caves are and pointed where they should be diving but he did not take part in diving itself. He waited on his boat for their return which never happened.The local guide than called the emergency center of Maledives after realizing the Italians wont be coming back.This is all info at the moment, the accident is recent.

Nitrogen narcosis also is a thing though, although unlikely to affect the whole group.Essentially they would have run out of air very shortly after entering a cave at 50m.
