The dentist told me repeatedly over 10 years ago to get my wisdom teeth removed. Never did since it sounded absurd and it causes bone retrusion which makes your jaw smaller. I haven't been to the dentist in nearly a decade and have been doing fine with baking soda + olive oil or occasional hydrogen peroxide. Floss regularly and buy some dental picks to get at stubborn plaque and you'll be fine.
