We're never going to go back to cheap cars with no spyware telemetry in them are we? Is this the new normal?
>>
>>535115498
my f150 cost 40k in 2015. it now costs 82k for the exact same spec new.

well when somebody builds a cheaper car (say china) you slap 100% tariff on them to protectt your boomer auto companies. why would they decrease price if they never have to compete?

Now put it in an inflation calculator any difference is due to bullshit safety requirements.

C4c was a nothing burger its people keeping cars longer and exports of used vehicles to Mexico that increased the used market. Further crumple zone make cars safer but harder to repair so more totals.

My wt 5.3 crew cab standard bed was only 43k in 2024 learn to use the manufacture inventory site to shop around.

Ps bully dealers just say no and leave if you dont like the price.

Chinese cars aren't cheap, unbelievable amount of subsidies went into the list price.

Nigger look up the US fleet size that might seem like a lot of cars but isnt even a rounding error on the number sold in a year.
>>
>>535115498
A Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, Subaru Impreza, or Chevy Trax are all like 26k new today, which is more like 18k in 2014 dollars (equivalent to a Ford Fiesta at the time).
The spyware shit is unavoidable for now, but the economy cars aren't actually more expensive.
>>
>>535116238
This
Add all the forced government regulation and its amazing automakers have been able to keep prices acter inflation the same.

In 2005 a family member bought a brand new GMC Sierra 4x4 extended cab/5.3L v8/etc etc..no leather but pretty much everything else for $25,000. I know because i went with him to pay the dealership and drive it home.
>>
>>535115498
my car is still worth what i paid (new) in 2019.

The stock 3.5 f150 engine is a mild hybrid

So think for a second
Now it needs two big electric motors instead of one
Two batteries one is lithium which ain't cheap
10ft of high gague copper wire to the rear cab mounted battery
Twin turbos for some reason
Complicated and high liability pedestrian braking system too

Does any of that sound cheap? No write your senator telling them to deregulate the auto industry. They want to force am radios and impaired driver crap next.
Also do not get a smaller engine for mpg get a NA V8
>>
>>535116608
You can buy a 2dr Chevy Silverado rn for for 30k
32k for a 4dr
>>
>>535115498
>Have you noticed how expensive cars have gotten since last year?
I mean kind of, but then also jobs are paying more too. I could get a decent low-mid end sedan for $17k but I was only making $16/hr as a union aerospace mechanic. My son has a friend who's working a very similar role in an adjacent line to my old job and I think he's making around $35/hr base now in his 2nd year. It never stops hurting seeing prices climb but all in all car prices aren't really outscaling wages unless you're being a luxuryfag but if you're luxuryfagging at all but especially not buying reliable shit used you're a moron so whatever.

More than just Mexico, all over the fucking world. 16 year old new drivers are competing with 40 year old habibis and pablos half a world away for the same beater Camrys which is why they cost $10k now

If something happens to my hatchback I'm gonna look at used police vehicles, they seem to have all the gay electronic shit deleted and replaced with mechanical switches, like mechanical key starts instead of pushbutton keyfobs and no onstar or other remote telemetry shit

It's predictably garbage, but for the few years I've had this vehicle I've had no mechanical issues and I've put it to good use. No regrets so far, yes I know it was dumb, but dumber to me would be going into debt for a cheap old bucket of shit. Plus it's practically the only major debt in my life right now, I unironically charge random shit on my credit card only to pay it a bit later due to how debt free I am, except for the truck of course.

Totally working as intended, anon.
You are being priced out of having cars to force you to use public transportation, if you are an outstanding goycattle you will be allowed to have an electric autonomous car that can be completely controlled remotely, as long as you keep being good goycattle.
>>
>>535118308
The new tech added to cars in the past decade is garbage though.
I would pay extra to have it removed.
Maybe that's the angle they're trying to play

>>535115498
this is why we modify vehicles. No matter what these faggots do there will always be a consumer base willing to pay for bypasses and modifications. I've gotten speed limiters removed, retarded evap codes removed, boost nannies disabled, etc. in my vehicles for decades.

>>535115696
You should be making more money to accommodate. Why can't you make more money? In America there are endless ways to make money theres kids making 100k a day playing roblox

Won't be affordable until we can just take a golf cart onto the road. It's actually over for americans, they've been putting bloat and spyware in cars so long that you have to buy a golf cart if you want to avoid it.
>>>
So basically a couple thousand and you can commute in a golf cart. Works for boomers that can live a better life than you in their little retirement villages or hipster towns that have specially made paths for said carts. Oops, you don't get to do that. It's only for them.
>>
>>535118956
Because in the USA you need good credit to do fucking anything

>Rent places
>Apply for a job
>Prove you actually live somewhere
>Apply for house or business loans

You can't just prove you have stable income, you have to have a track record of paying stuff on time or paying stuff off as quickly as possible.

what nonsense.
plastic crap everywhere makes it a bit harder to repair but mostly all the computer shit.
bolting on new crumple zones is not the reason.

Abandoning the chrome steel bumpers with the shock absorbers in favor of the plastic skirted crumple zones was at least part of the reason.
Pre-1990 vehicles could take a 5-10 mph hit with barely any damage.
They were marginally safer, I guess
