Does anybody else feel quietly cozy and pleased when they hear car manufacturers are suffering from a decline in sales, closing factories, laying staff off because they tried to shill EV's so hard when nobody wants them

Quality has dropped since the year 2000.
Same with toyota.

So it's not really "cozy and pleased", it's just indifference.
They could have known that this will happen. EVs are, for now, objectively inferior to ICEs. More than that, we have neither the infrastructure for everyone to use one if we forced them, nor even the resources to build enough EVs for everyone to have one.

It was always a plan that was going to spectacularly fail, but the retards in politics have grown too arrogant and believe their word to be some law of nature that can force reality into compliance.

let's look at the US car sales figures right now
>>
>>535138243
Not sure about Honda, but the German car manufacturers were pushing hard as fuck for those laws.
They did it in the past with our "cash for clunkers" equivalent that demolished the second hand market to force more people to buy new cars, and they thought they could make fat profits by forcing everyone to abandon their ICE and buy a new EV, too.
I don't think there was any lobby group that pushed for this harder than the big car manufacturers did over here.

I could even see some sense in wanting to switch over to electric. Electricity is the same no matter which source you used to produce it, so it makes you less dependent on specific resources from abroad.
But they tried to force it in the most retarded way possible, and for entirely greed-motivated reasons.

>Biggest market for cars is USA
>Americans think nothing of driving 300 miles round trip for a day of mucking about
>Average EV gets less than 300 miles in peak conditions
>As such it's not an option for a lot of Americans

Couple that with new auto sales being shit in general because vehicle pricing outpaced earnings growth and it is far from shocking. If Honda released an electric car that could get 100 miles a charge, still easily got highway speeds, and was less than 10K? It would sell like fucking crazy as work commuter item.

If it matched gas car pricing, performance, and comfort with a 500 mile range in its worst setup? It MIGHT sell well, but that's still a gamble. I've put over 1,000 miles on road trips at least 50 times in my life.

Bozos like you is why many legacy brands will have a monumental struggle trying to catch up to EVs.
In China, most of the EU and EEC, and even some african nations, EVs have surpassed ICE car sales. Last couple years price parity happened with purchase prices.
EVs have much lower running and servicing costs. And no, batteries do not need to be changed after a couple of years, they normally outlast the car. Like ICE cars, shit happens now and then. That does not mean all will blow a piston through the cylinder wall.
BMW or Lucid make pricey cars for those boneheads who believe (wrongly) that you need to have 500 mile capacity per charge. Who the F drives that log without having lunch, or a coffee, take a leak, or have a look at a waterfall?

How the car is powered isnt the problem. It is everything else related to it
Gas cars
>cheap to produce
>will last as long as you if you take care of it
>Can fix it with simple tools
>Can be refueled in minutes at any location
Electric car
>expensive to produce
>need to spend 10-20k every 8-10 years for the battery alone
>designed to be expensive to repair
>can be hacked
>newer ones send data back to manufacturer so they can profit off selling it
>needs to be plugged in to charge

If there were electric cars that were designed like old gas ones, but they used swappable batteries rather than gas, they would be great

parity
>Global electric vehicle (EV) sales are growing rapidly, reaching over 17 million in 2024, which represents a 25% increase from 2023 and means roughly 1-in-5 new cars sold globally is now electric. In contrast, sales of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles peaked around 2017–2018 and are now in a terminal decline, with their market share falling from over 90% in 2019 to 57% by Q1 2025.

Bullshit, for one, maybe if you drive 55 in a 65. And also that's bullshit because GM EVs have notoriously wear-prone battery packs made of substandard, Chinese cells. So in a year you'll get 150 peak. And try not to quick charge - that kills your battery with excessive heat lol.

Come back in two years and tell us how great it's working out. You won't. You'll try to forget how badly you got bamboozled.

Car brands have their niche. They spend billions creating their brands. Then they try to break their own mold that they themselves have spent decades curating just to make a shitty knockoff of Tesla. That's why it doesn't work. That's why Ford failed too. They spent decades becoming the default redneck mobile for people who hate EVs and the environment in general. Then they made an EV. It's simple math, trump rolled back rules and regs, and mamnipulateed tarriffs, it fucked honda's aggressive investment in the worst car economt we've seen in a long time. But they have been reducing the quality of their "luxury" cars for a long time now, they were never going to make money best case they sell the same amount of cars. But they can't compete with BYD's prices, even in canada. A pure EV is always going to be a secondary car, if they want to hit new primary buyer they need hybrids, it was always absurd to invest billions in pure EVs, they lost billions because of their own hubris and stupidity.
The only thing keeping them from going bankrupt is 3rd worlders buying their bikes.
Toyota knew this and saved their asses because Toyota is actually fucking smart and knows shit. They survived the NA tariff apocalyse; They will survive the BYD apocalypse.

>EVs have surpassed ICE car sales
In April 2026, electric vehicle (EV) sales in China surpassed internal combustion engine (ICE) car sales, with EVs accounting for 61.4% of the market share. This shift was driven by a significant drop in ICE car sales, which fell by 37% year-over-year, while EV sales remained strong despite recent subsidy reductions.

Norway is the first country where electric vehicle (EV) sales have overtaken internal combustion engine (ICE) car sales, achieving this milestone as early as 2020. By November 2025, EVs accounted for 98.4% of new car sales in Norway, marking a significant shift in the automotive market.

Why would it be the workers fault? I work for the big 3 and we all knew the EV shit wasn’t going to sell. None of the workers supported that shit. The companies liked them because they required 20% less workers for production.

Its not just EV faggotry.
During and especially after the 2010s car manufacturers all moved to an absoulte kike model- dogshit on the basic durability reliability, and software/sensors out the ass, that they make sure only their faggot dealship can work on.
Now we are getting AI Spyware shutoff bullshit in new cars?

Quality has fucking nose dived, theres a million bells and whistles no one needs, and only morons want, and the price is fucking outrageous, even after they all attempted to gogue the fuck out of us during the Vid(because we wouldn't just wait for a durable good to get its supply worked out, fucking morons.)

I dont want a vehicle much new the the newest I have (2016). All plastic own notbing fit nothing dogshit. Ill just keep fixing older vehicles until they fold, an alt comes, or ill rip out their horseshit/build my own.

I own an accord 8. Best car I ever had. Absolute zero bullshit, no turbo, no injection, no bloated media system, huge space under the hood. They cannot even change tires without needing to relearn their cars.

The car works great. Wifey absolutely loves it for commutes to work (90km return trip) I love it too, borrow it when I can. Her old Golf turbo diesel sits unused and forgotten. Will get rid of it when I get round to it. >ill rip out their horseshit/build my own.
There are regulations in many states preventing you from ripping the slop out and replacing it with a crate engine.
The replacement is expected to be the same emission control system, or it's not "supposed" to pass inspection.

Also look for a crippling tax/fee on running old beater cars soon.

The world is a big place.
Sales are worldwide.
Trends are slow, or fast, depending on where you look.
Just like it is easy to tell by the legacy auto brands finances, that they are leaking money, EV are growing. Everyone are losing money, except one manufacturer, that you likely hate, is not.
>>
>>535159926
I don't know. It's a managed process.
>>
>>535143001

>>
>>535160567

>>
>>535143001
sure buddy, ev are so expensive that USA and EU are both shitting their pants on Chinese electric cars. If what you said was true there wouldn't be massive import tariffs and they would be allowed to compete fairly in a free market.
>>
>>535160150
car fires are not a new thing.
petrol and diesel start thousands of fires every year.
Per 1000 vehicles burning, how many are EVs?
Pic related.
I have some petrol stored in my garage, I am much more careful handling that, than parking an EV there.
>>
>>535160567
Keep ignoring my replies, shill. Literally the ONLY countries that adopt EVs are countries like yours, that add thousands in tax to ICE cars while exempting VAT and giving subsidies to EVs.

Why do you push back?

I get annoyed when people speak "with great authority" about something they clearly are ignorant about.
That is just annoying me sufficiently to push back.

Look I dont know enough about it to speak with authority, but it would seem as if European car manufacturers see where the wind is blowing within the union and are acting accordingly. Euro standards are inevitable because bureaucrats in Brussels will push them anyway.
I'm also not suprised they embrace euro standards, since it helps them compete better in the European market. International competitors are forced to make specific skus to comply with euro 6/7. For instance we're on euro 5, its cheaper for japs and koreans to ship cars here than r&d, then warranty their euro 6 sku, which is riddled with emissions complexity and more highly strung.

Annual loss. Because of Electric shit the Chinks refuse to buy over nationalistic shit like BYD etc.

It's only 9 billion. 15 new Hybrid models by 2030. Nothing full electric.

Honda should of seen the writing on the wall. Investing in China was a very stupid idea. Xi also wrote he can now literally seize any foreign owned company if and when he pleases, so of course Honda is like "fuck this let's write this shit off".

So, people should be upset about not having to pay a bullshit tax, to a disgusting parliament and government, eagerly stumbling over each other to sponsor Hamas, and cheer for Zelensky and the IRGC?
At the same time, they are shutting down small town schools, and district hospitals, while adopting 1,6 million foreigners into a nation with about 4 million natives.
The oil fund grows endlessly, while people with terminal cancer, might be having their palliative care in a hallway, while strangers keep walking past.
Taxes are theft. Fuck them.
