Funnily enough, this is a desktop GPU designed specifically for home users (for gaming).
It is not an enterprise-grade AI GPU like those produced by Huawei.

VRAM on its own is meaningless, what matters is the performance, and in that it's still lacking:
>Our GPU is indeed at a leading domestic level, but as a first-generation product, there are still areas that need improvement. […] Our current product does outperform NVIDIA’s RTX 4060 in scientific computing workloads such as OpenCL, but we still need to catch up in other areas, such as real game frame rates and some software compatibility.
More competition is obviously good, but they aren't there yet.

I recall that Huawei’s lithography machines utilise AI computing.
I’m not entirely sure of the specifics, but it may involve using AI to calculate the light’s etching path or something similar.
This enables 14nm lithography machines to produce products with a process node of 7nm or smaller.
The downside is that the cost is extremely high.

i would risk no name chink gpu, but they need to at least reach xx70 tier, and be proven that drivers are fully compatibile

still, its quite possible that whole production of those are for inside market, so no sales outside of china, if i remember corectly some retards enforced bans on high tier gpu for china cos obvious "they use it for ai", so its possible that its just invention to cover a market hole

one area a chink only product could gain is via local AI and seeing as most of the local AI is chink anyway it should be able to do it. 12gb is kind of the bottom level for things like LTX2.3, so if people are more interested in the AI side of things even if it is having a second PC just for that then it is something that could be worth it if the price is much lower - at least for the GPU

Chinese GPU have an adoption problem that translates in the lack of drivers. As (((nvidia))) and (((amd))) phase out their gayming GPUs, only the chinese ones will be left and somebody will eventually make compatibility patches or something.
Jewsa will likely make it illegal to use them in jewsa or some shit because nvidia will demand as much tho. Intel GPUs are fucking dead already so these chinese GPUs are the only hope the gaming community has for the future at this point.

I am a materials engineer, I used to work in silicon fabs. Just for a headsup but the "nm" scale of the chip has been a marketing expression since like 2013/2014 when 32-28nm was the standard. We transitioned from standard planar (2d) MOSFETs to FinFets at "22nm" (which has a 26nm gate length) and later "14nm" (which has a 24nm gate length) then ribbonFets in 2024-2025 which follow a similar trend. Not to say there hasn't been meaningful development, transistors are not in fact 2 dimensional objects that that nm number implies in reality, and there are refinements that can and have been made to increase their performance, reduce heat buildup, stacking, and increasing thr other other dimensions of transistor density.

I'm happy with a 780m in a low power draw minipc and a 5070 xt in a gaming pc, specially with fsr 4 coming for the 780m, on Linux ofc, way lower RAM usage by os and games. New currently intel are even better bang for buck as amd

The new China GPU line is a blessing for the market
>>
>>535383299
Yeah, i kinda want to make a build around this just for laughs.
>>
>>535383053
The nm scale is broken and mostly unrepresentative of the individual dimensions of a transistor and decoupled over a decade ago. It was meaningful when we used planar MOSFETs but has become a marketing holdover because people intuitively can understand smaller transistor = better which is why it hasn't been discarded but the truth of transistor sizes is muddy and only very tech savy people and engineers/scientists understand the nuance. For example, intel "14nm" in 2016 had higher packing density (roughly 34% denser) with their finfets than Samsung did for their "14nm", so not all 14nm are actually even equal and that is still true with modern "1.8/2nm" stuff today. The gate length now is a light basis of what a projected planer transistor would be using a metric called logic density (how many transistors can I stuff in a certain area) as the core measure and then they equate that to a theoretical planer node size that is considered "equivalent". But the gate length is not the only think that can be shrunk or improved in a transistor, its just marketing lingo because investors are usually completely illiterate to these details. The standard engineering metric is Million Transistors per square millimeter (MT/mm^2), or logic density.

Sorry I might have over explained. From your prespective as a consumer, smaller usually is better all else equal but there is a lot of marketing bullshit around node sizes than can make even the same node size, radically unequal in performance from different fabs. So view node sizes skeptically but not pessimistically and don't base decisions solely on node size, pick a chip with proven benchmarked performance.

we're living in the middle of a dark age so a 2080 ti is going to play all the games out now, and all the games out in the future. theres no reason to buy new gpus anymore, games arent becoming any more demanding because the technology has peaked. closest you had was black myth wukong, and that was just a terribly optimized game, not anything truly revolutionary.

Breddy close to 4060 irl, with some driver optimisation likely on pair, and I really hope they go open source, kernel integrated, like amd

Fellow Kraut, and apparently big proponent of Linux:
What is SystemD and why is it BAD(tm)
What distros do not use it and can be installed by a retard like me who so far has not managed to get fucking Cossacks from 2003 to run on a Thinkpad i installed Linux Mint on.
And how do you run games on said distro.
I really want to like Linux but i am getting filtered hard on the gaming end.

In other words the card doesn't feature upscaling or path tracing.

So we know Big Tech in the west like to spy on us and censor us. Doesn't seem like there's much to lose by switching to Chinese hardware.

Systemd is the init, Starter for the Kernel. Sort of simplified. It uses about 400mb more of RAM than other similar inits like openrc or sysvinit. Maybe a bit more features, but useless for homepc. It will also support ageverification and datagrabbing in the future.

Install flatpak via the paketmanager of your distro and visit flathub.org, install Steam and probably lutris to run games, via Steam install proton.
Also every possible Emulator is on flathub. Update flathub apps via: flatpak Update

Systemd free are Devuan, it's Debian without systemd, rockstable, Artix, Arch without systemd, rolling release, AntiX, Alpine and some more smaller ones.

For basics, Mint xfce and go flathub.org and have fun
