Boomer hippies became liberal professionals and then raised their children to be liberal professionals. So the hippies did not become yuppies, their children did. But the worldview was basically identical. Zero generation gap for liberal/atheist upbringings in the gen X era. Hippies became working professionals because getting disowned by your parents and finding yourself hungover from an acid trip stranded in a strange desert commune in California without any money gets old after a few years.
