this isn't really an issue right now (just panic) but in the future - no idea when - oil will become too expensive to use and there will be many problems in society due to this. the human population will likely collapse as it would be too expensive to continue making fertilizers. as far as i know, there is no replacement for oil from the "green" energy cohort.
