One notion I find really asinine is the notion that the study of History shouldn't focus on Europe. That there were these great civilizations in the East that deserve equal attention.

Influenced by this, I took time to study Chinese history. My conclusion is one of disappointment. Contrary to the myth of an unbroken Chinese civilization stretching as far back as 5,000 years ago, I have instead realized it's merely a series of disjointed kingdoms, empires and dynasties stretching AT BEST to about 3,000 years ago (the Shang dynasty) and incomparable to the solid body of Western civilization, which goes back 2,500 years and rests on Greek philosophy, Roman law and Christianity (which is not only a religion but also a moral system of universal values which has enlightened and grasped the entire world).

Here's the world AD 376, at the start of the Huns, 2 years before Adrianople. The vast and storied Roman Empire is already near its end, meanwhile elsewhere there was nothing but wilderness. Tenochtitlan and the Inca societies were only established over 1,000 years after, some 600-700 years ago.
What do we see? We see the Gupta Empire which for only 150 years dominated only the northern part of the subcontinent.
We see a divided China of the Three Kingdoms and Six Dynasties period.
In India clashed Buddhism with Hinduism. In China clashed Daoism with Confucianism (and Buddhism also made its forays there).
Meanwhile, in the West, the Roman Catholic Church was already well-established.

Most of all, in Western civilization there exists a unity of spirit that prevails over any political dealings of its day that cannot be found in India or China. My favorite example is Justinian's reconquest of Rome in the 6th century. When the general Belisarius and his secretary Procopius entered Rome, they felt a clear connection to the city they previously only knew from writing, teachers and the legends extolling the very real historical figures like Trajan, Hadrian.

It's still kicking today with over 1 billion followers, wielding significant political influence even in predominantly non-Catholic countries such as the United States, the Fall of Communism is also partly ascribed to it thanks to figures such as St. John Paul II the Great, who in addition to inspiring the countries of Central-Eastern Europe to throw off their shackles (chiefly Poland) was also instrumental to stopping the anti-Western tide in Latin America.

In the East such a spirit is nowhere to be found, divided between rounds of petty princes each aspiring to be God's man on earth (but quickly disappearing into oblivion) with everyone subservient to their local Asiatic despot, with a shared conscious ending on any one of the transient dynasties that came to rule their limited area

yea, of course. the whole china/india was always essentially united is BS, but of course it helps to pretend the nation should be this big rather than smaller even if many regions struggle in the national whole

common thing between the world's nations, tho

as for the "unity of spirit"... yes, kind-of. actually even parts of africa would qualify purely on their undestanding of business dealings and so on

but it doesn't completely change that there are also differences that split european nations and african and middle eastern nations that are in "further" culture and religion that is NOT as united. these matter too, it's also the reason why europe had a lot of wars internally I'd say.

Baizuo gweilo, you cannot be powerful without knowledge. China is the land of Heaven, dragon energy, purity of essence. Four thousand years of cultivated Sophistication and civilization, PRIMACY.
America is younger than my neighbor's tree, you are not a serious people!

Euro chads created the modern world and European civilization comes from Rome hence why it's always centered around it.
Those other civilisations never went beyond their containment zones and didn't influenced the modern world in any way.

>Western civilization, which goes back 2,500 years and rests on Greek philosophy, Roman law and Christianity
Roman civilization itself is based on etruscan and greek civilizations. The first greek civilization, the myceneans, which started directly based on the minoan civilization. They built minoan style palaces, decorated with minoan style art, wrote using a variation of the minoan script, the elites were buried with minoan artifacts and later with increasingly poor copies. 80% of them had minoan DNA.
So you can actually safely add another 2500 years to european civilization if you feel like flexing on the eastoids.
